I handled one of these at an AT&T COR store yesterday. They couldn't sell till Friday but I have to say that I was disappointed. The worst thing was the rated battery life. On the box it clearly states that it's got 3 hours and there is no extended battery included as with the previous BJ. Buttons on the phone were an improvement but way too small, and the glossy plastic casing feels a little cheap. I didn't see a flash on the 2mp camera either.
I was looking forward to adding this one to my collection but think I'll pass. The Q9 Global seems superior to this one at least in battery life, keyboard and build quality.

Thanks for letting us know. I was hoping that the battery life would be better than my POS razr but I guess it aint.

Battery life is the one thing they improved most compared to the original BlackJack.
On the original, the extended battery was ~1700 mAh and made it much thicker. On the new BlackJack II, they managed to fit a full 1700 mAh battery inside as the standard battery and keep it as thin as the old BlackJack with standard battery.
It's easy to put the new one next to the old one and say they didn't change much, but when you realize how much larger the battery is in the new one without making the phone any thicker, it's actually kind of impressive engineering.
The only reason an extra battery was included with the original was that battery life sucked on that one. They knew that, hence the extra free battery. Now that this one actua...

Why does the box say: 3 hours talk??
The sales rep said that was accurate.
...
You have stated that on two separate threads, but why does the box say three hours talk time? Are you actually using the device or just making that statement based on the thickness or MHZ of the battery? Please advise.
...
Ok. I must have been smoking something when I looked at the device and the box on Wednesday at the COR store but I just went and bought one from another store and they box clearly states that the talk time is rated up to 7 hours. I called the rep at the first store and she told me that she remembered the box reading 3 hours but was busy (black Friday) and couldn't go and double check.
I just got back with mine and am playing with until the battery runs down for a full charge and will report back with findings.

I was only pointing out that the battery on the II is significantly larger than on the original. Therefore, if you heard that the original had bad battery life, you shouldn't assume the same about this new model. I didn't say anything more than that.
Battery life specs are a very inexact science. There are a dozens ways to measure it, and most companies do it differently. Samsung's official spec sheet says 7 hours of talk time. That probably a best-case scenario done in the lab under unrealistic conditions, but it's based on some kind of test. The spec on the box may be a worst-case scenario test, or it could simply be a typo... these things do happen. Either way, even two "correct" battery life specs for the same phone are often l...

Yep. And you were correct. The battery is larger and I posted the fact that I may need a 12 step program to kick whatever I was smokin' when I saw the "up to 3 hours talk time" when I saw the box.

I purchased a BlackJack II yesterday and the box clearly states that the device is rated for a 3 hour talk time. I haven't had it long enough to know kind of actual talk/standby time I am getting.
...
There must be some boxes with misprints on them then. I know I saw the same thing with the 3 hour talk time but I am looking at the box right now and it says 7 hours. (On the back with the long list of specs)

Does anyone know if the extended battery that came with the first BlackJack work on the BlackJack II?
...
no the extended battery does not work with the blackjack II.
it does not even fit in the charger if you want to keep the charger to charge one battery and have another one in the phone.
