Here is the email I got from Sprint a month ago. Looks like they have no clue

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I understand your query regarding the
update of Windows Mobile 6.1 for the samsung ace.
I am sorry to inform you that currently we do not have any update
regarding the Windows Mobile 6.1.
I am forwarding your feedback along with my notes to the appropriate
personnel and department.
Once we get any update regarding the same, we will definitely inform you
the same.
Thank you again for contacting Sprint. We appreciate your business.
Sincerely,
Angel A.

Tell me about it.
They announced we will get an update this summer but the summer is over and no word from Sprint. This sucks.

so att has made the blackjack2 already wm6.1 and they have came out w/different color styles too! like how the palm centros are which are kinda cool .. we can only hope that sprint gets on the ball and does the same thing w/the ace ... it would be great for sales and more creative style that is trying to take place now .. đ¤¤

I know this has got to be a really late entry but there is an update for the ACE for Windows 6.1. It also includes enabling GPS and includes Windows Office Mobile for creating and editing Excel, Word, and OneNote and allows viewing of PowerPoint. They also included Live Search, Messenger, Sprint Navigation, and Windows Live. It also has a few more Color Schemes for the Home Screen. There was also a separate update to enable Picture Mail.
Most of the updated features were meant to be used with internet access, including GPS (Sprint Navigation). I found a free program (NoniGPSPlot) that uses the enabled GPS and does not require a data plan or being on the internet. Its fairly crude by current standards but could be used for Geocaching.
