Samsung Instinct M800
RATINGS DROPPING ON THIS PHONE DAILY
I don't look at ratings on this site for a phone until at least 6 months from when it's released. That is when the reality sets in on a phone. Why do you think carrier's give you 30 days ? If you going to start posting ratings on a phone, wait till the phone has been out, to be able to accurately RATE THE PHONE....
"I just got my _____________ and hour ago and I have to tell you it's the most AWSOME device ever! Haven't had the chance to test out the GPS yet and not sure how long the battery will last cause it's still on the charger... But it's the BEST phone ever! Of course in that hour I haven't had a chance to see how the reception is at most of the places that I travel... work... family and friends house... buy hey, it's the BEST phone EVER!"
And I also love the posts that rate a device as FIVE stars but give you list of half a dozen cons in the review like:
Battery life sucks
Screen unreadable i...

Furthermore, there will be pros and cons about every phone. Not even the iPhone is perfect. Far from it, actually (and I happen to like the iPhone, and many other Apple products for that matter).
I understand what you are all saying about waiting 6 months to really see how people feel about a phone. But if we all wait 6 months to buy the Instinct, by that time, there will be some other exciting phone out that everyone will want to buy.
So people rate the phone a 5, who cares? It's all personal opinion anyway. Anyone who says this phone is the best phone ever is off in their thinking. Anyone who says this phone is terrible is also o...

Have you noticed the last last few BAD reviews were from people that don't even own the phone?
Out of the nine bad reviews (3 stars or less) I only counted only ONE that admitted not owning the phone. The term "few" indicates three or more and I don't see them.
If you will look at the reviews of AT&T's Motorola Q9 Global, it's been out for at least 6 months and still has some fairly recent reviews and it's rating was well over 4 stars last I looked. I think that was the point of looking at something longer term than the 4 days the Instinct has been out.
mav*****96 - at&t fanboy, look at recent posts. Highly unlikely this person has the phone or any real experience with it.
jmp****en - probably a sprint customer, likely has the phone, but sparse review, and may be better off with a basic camera phone instead.
ka*te - should own a PDA, that is what they think this phone is. It's not, go get a PDA.
ga**en - lives in a poor area, so they weren't able to test a lot of the features, most of their bad experiences are due to location rather than device.
au******er - also thinks this is a PDA. it's a multimedia phone, rate it for what it's for, not what you thought it woul...

Ok, I filtered some of the reviews and found this (usernames shortened so they are not being directly addressed):

The only negs I've posted about the device is that it's the iPhone killer that Sprint touted it to be and, in fact, is NOT a PDA phone as I believe many were lead to believe by pitting it against an actual PDA (iPhone).
I have read several positive reviews on the Instinct from those who do get paid for it and although they like it, I've read none who have said it's better than an iPhone or...

Sorry to say, Apple actually asked Verizon first, but they declined because they didn't want to be a pawn to Apple. Apple then went to at&t because they were willing to do anything Apple told them to do and at&t had the money to invest in their infrastuctor.
Old news. And Verizon's ego got in the way of of that deal too. VZW didn't want anyone but THEMSELVES to do CS for any device they carry. Not to mention Verizon wasn't going to share it's revenues with anyone. I guess because they charge so little for their service the profit margins were just too thin. 🙄
However, that was a mistake because you asked for a company that delivers good customer service; that's Apple. I haven't s...

I will tell you that I like GSM, but if the iPhone were on VZW, I'd be on VZW. Probably even Sprint if that were the case. Because at least for the most part, I could deal with Apple.

Excuse me but an IPhone is not a PDA either it is a multimedia phone. People are confused.
You could not be more wrong. Please tell me what the iPhone is missing that does not qualify it as a smartphone.
PUSH Email (Exchange thru IMAP now, wireless Exchange Active Sync Fri)
Contacts Sync
Calendar Sync
(REAL) HTML web access
Document handling (Reads Excel, Word and PDF and will do PowerPoint on Fri)
3rd party applications (Fri)
I don't know what YOUR definition of a smartphone is but as the IT manager of a bank who manages both Blackberry and Exchange servers, and several types of Smartphone devices for our staff, I think I know what is and is NOT a smartphone.

You might be asking why I'm here. Well, I'm looking for some tip and tricks for the instinct. It can do alot of things, and I'm wondering what I've missed.
P.S.
I really like this phone. Does it have downsides? Sure. It's not lightning fast on the internet, but then again, IT'S A FRIGGIN PHONE! lol
Not a computer.
Besides, it looks like a significant amount of the negative reviews are by people who don't what they are doing. You're going to give an all touch device a low ranking because you want to be able to text faster? Stick with a BlackBerry. If you're going to complain about battery life then give us an idea of your location and how this new device compares to previous ones from Sprint. Not all the reviews are like that but enough of them are.
I don't own an Instinct. I haven't even played around with one. But I do want to see honest and fair reviews. And a weeks is plenty enough time to g...

The only place I've been able to get some feel from real users with real issues and concerns is from this thread over on sprintusers. Interesting to note that the Instinct 'problem' thread is alreday approaching 300 posts.
Give it up Instinct fanboys, this is not 'the best phone ever'.

Sprints coverage stinks anyway.
unless you never leave the city of course.
but in real life, people travel.
if you move you lose your call.
I pity Sprint customers. having been one myself previously.
COME TO THE DARKSIDE, COME TO VERIZON.......

Makes no sense. You tell people to get an iPhone 3G and to come over to Verizon for service. Does VZW have a magic CDMA radio they can slip in that iPhone to make it work on their network? 👀
DOH !! (smacks self in forehead with palm) 🤤
But I hear ya dude.
