downloading/creating ringtones, transfering

i am new to alltel. i was wondering if anyone could tell me what file types the glimmer accepts for ringtones/easiest way to transfer them to the phone. i have a 2gb memory card and card reader for it. any GOOD ring tone sites (preferably FREE!)? also, i have some local bands songs i wouldnt mind making into ringtones if anyone knows a program to do that with?? Thanks!!!

Love the glimmer! gotta get used to the touch screen though!

go to myxertones.com!! you must have axcess web to use it!! and u must see if it works on your phone, and of course people can always send you ringtones via picture message!!

unfortunately, alltel decided to take away our previous rights to make our own ringtones so that you will buy theirs. there's no way around it-- the phone won't recognize any sound files that you put onto the phone(no matter how you get them on there) as a ringtone.

Not true, use BitPim and follow the how-to over at HowardForums. I used my data cable and BitPim and have all my mp3 ringers available.

THIS IS VERY EASY TO DO FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS

DOWNLOAD DRIVERS....

Download and install the LG 8600 Drivers

Install the latest version of BitPim
Open bitpim
Let it find the phone(it will come up as other CDMA phone)
Click FILESYSTEM on the left at the bottom
Expand the folder
Click dload
Right click on lg_mysound.dat and save it to your desktop
After you save it right click lg_mysound.dat in bitpim and delete it
Now click brew
Click media
Click lk
Click ms

Now drop the songs you want to use as ringers in this file. They will automatically load into your phone. It inst the fastest process but it works.

After they are done loading onto the phone, unhook USB cable ...
