Samsung Omnia i910
Omnia Review after long ownership
Using 3rd party applications has for the most part proven to be not very useful, since I have to be careful that they are compatible with the widgets. It just seems the WM 6.1 is not attracting much attention for cool applications these days.
The phone dialer is awful. Finding a contact takes too many steps and the list from within the phone itself has way too small a font and its too easy to dial a number instead of just look at your record for that person. I can not dial with one hand on this phone unless its a speed dial
The personalized ringer has never worked. I have set it ...

Here are some suggestions.
1) Use the SPB Mobile Shell or PointUI on this phone. The Samsung Menus are very generic, and useless.
2) If you want to use radio, get a stereo bluetooth headset, and stream your favorite radio through the bluetooth. This approach does not require you to carry that adapter around, which I think was the only stupid thing with this phone, and it is wireless.
3) If you are in a fringe coverage area, this phone may not work well for you.
4) The storm is complete garbage. I would not touch that phone with a 10 foot pole.
5) I could agree with the keyboard issue, but...

First had a firmware problem ... second was fried by a defective original home charger; This one seems better but still has IMHO very poor battery life ... even with BT & WiFi turned off and limited use of data services and about 60-90 minutes of talk time.
Yes, it is a slick WinMob device with gadgets galore and apps that make it almost an iPhone.
BUT .. I'd like not to have to be tethered to or look for a charger / power source after a "mere" 4 hours.
Clearly form has outpaced function on this particular device. Perhaps battery technology will catch up in a few years. 🙄
I'll run with this one for a bit longer but may have to look for a more serviceable device very soon. I...

All in all it's just an "ok" device - IMHO the marketing of the phone exceeds the phone's actual performance.
Maybe in time technology will catch up.
Are you using Task Manager regularly? Whenever I hear complaints of things freezing or being slow in WinMo, I suspect that too many apps are open.
Just in case you aren't aware, it's a quick swipe from the bottom of the screen toward the middle. Then tap the "End all tasks" button on the screen. Should speed-up noticeably at that point.
A few small apps running won't bother it much, but if you just used PowerPoint, or some other large apps, it's very noticeable. Regular clearing of Task Manager will also improve battery life.
Someone was complaining about not being able to set custom ring tones, and having them stay. The most common reason for this is that you have to click "ok" in the top right corner of the wind...

Thanks for the tip. I did have 5 tasks running (Facebook, Internet, etc.) and cleared them. I'll see what happens. I also use ClearTemp to free up memory on the phone and have installed my apps to the memory card and not the phone.
I used the phone during a recent trip to Europe and as a camera - it was great! Also got Skype to work pretty well whenever I was in a WiFi hotspot.
Overall, as a "phone" the Omnia is OK; but it seems to me that as these things become more and more a hand-held computer that there needs to be a major improvement in battery technology, power consumption, OR BOTH!
