Unfortunatly it looks like us canucks have to wait. Telus is not currently offering the upgrade and you need a verizon number to get it from verizon's website.

😁 Upgraded my (Canadian) i700 to Pocket PC 2003 software and it works great. Excellent improvement over 2002. Too bad Telus here in Canada can't see the benefits of offering the upgrade to its customers. 😢

I am a fellow albertan and have the SPH I700. By upgrading will this provide me with better options? Also will it affect my cell contract in any way? How do I go about upgrading it?
One of my biggest complaints is that I hate the optional keyboard from Samsung for the I700. I have tried the Belkin and Targus Universal keyboards, however neither worked. I am hoping that by upgrading it, either one may work. Any thoughts?

Don't know about keyboard but it makes the webbrowser infinatly better. the 2003 explorer has 128 bit incryption so you can get into secure sites which you can't do on 2002. It's also got a mute function on it which is handy. The media player 9 is cool but keeps having problems reading my SD card so i have to keep restarting media player. That is really my only complaint. As for how it will affect your cell contract i can't say. Don't see how it should. Last i read it i didn't see anything on it about modifying the software...Granted i was too floored after reading about the HUGE Early termination fee. $20/month untill end of contract or $100 which ever is GREATER. I almost fainted. Still not as bad as my GF's power contract *shude...

I tried to download the 2003 upgrade via the Verizon website - it always requires that I enter in a valid verizon phone number.

Is there any way to get the upgrade for Canadain customers. Telus Mobility has mentioned they don't support this phone model anymore and don't have an upgrade available.

I too live in BC and don't care for the limitations of the 2002 os. If anyone finds the upgrade site or any info please let me know.
