I have been going nuts trying to figure out which phone to upgrade to based on features I would like. I currently have a LG VX10 and have been considering the LG VX4500 or LG VX4600 (which I may not be able to get). I looked at the Audiovox CDM-8600 but decided against it. Finally after reading about the Samsung SCH-A530 I decided that it is the phone for me.
I can't upgrade untill September 10 but I went in to the Verizon store just to check out the phone in person and it wasn't there. When I asked about it I was told that it is no longer offered (even though it is still listed on their website. Has anyone else heard about it being discontinued or anything?
I went to Samsung's website and it is still listed there. I really haven...

Great.
Just since this morning this phone has been taken off Verizon's Web Site.
I still don't see a replacement phone for it. The Samsung SCH-A650 is a newer phone but I don't consider it a replacement since it doesn't have any outside display (monochrome or color). Does anyone if a true replacement for the SCH-A530 is coming from Samsung (a non-camera flip phone with two dislpays and multiple vibrate and ring settings including vibrate then ring (speakerphone would be nice too but a bonus))?
Thanks

I'm looking for the same thing: non-camera, dual display, flip. Was considering the LG 4600 but it looks like its about to disappear too. The samsung a650 would be nice if it had an external display.....
Appears the trend is towards either the gimmicky cameras or the megasized do everything big $ stuff. I just want decent communications.

Unfortunately, The Samsung A530 is no longer being offered in VZW retail stores. The phones were all returned to shipping and are exclusively on closeout available on verizonwireless.com Based upon the needs that you have described, I recommend the LG-VX4500. It's a wonderful phone that has speakerphone, voice actvated dialing, it's not a camera phone, also has external/internal lcd display. Also the phone can be set to ring and vibrate

If you want a 530, you can still get 'em, you just have to hunt around. Don't expect the official Verizon Stores to help you though- the company line is that they're gone. If you want one, you'll have to go through a 3rd party agent, i.e. 'authorized retailer'. I had luck with both the Voice Wireless and Cellular Image chains in the SF Bay Area, but Radio Shack was no help at all.
(Side note on the Verizon stores: They also told me that the 1000 Anywhere Minutes plan for $39.99 was discontinued in my area when it wasn't... I got the plan through an authorized retailer. There seems to be an awful lot the Verizon Store guys don't know. 🙄 )
Far as your question about single display phones goes, yes, it can be set so that you won't an...
