"My Location"
I have Verizon and have turned location services on in both places I can find to do so. I would think this would permit the weather application to detect my location, Montgomery, and correctly report that location's weather.
It's no big deal, but I wonder what will happen when I start traveling with the phone. When I am in NYC, will it give me the weather for Anchorage?
Anyway, is there a way to find out where my phone thinks "My Location" is?
1. I tapped the clock on the main screen, bringing up World Clock.
2. I tapped on the digital time for "My Location," which I assume is what you wanted me to tap on when you told me to tap on the dial. Nothing happened.
3. I tapped on the open circle next to "My Location," and the circle highlighted.
4. I tried tapping the digital time again. This time, it brought up a new screen with only that one time, the date, and the city listed as "GMT-6 Central US."
The "My Location" feature seems to be able to identify my time zone correctly, but nothing more specific. Unfortunately, tha...

This phone hasn't been out long enough for you to be past your 1 year manufacturers warranty. Your cell service provider should be able to give you a replacement.
arranging your areas in order and see if that helps out.
Slide the bar to the weather tab, then click on menu and a screen will pop up, select rearrange location. Touch the white box to the right and slide it in the order you want the locations. It's like a drag and top type thing. Just make sure that your current living location is first, o...

I don't think this is a hardware problem. Others are reporting similar problems. I think this is a software glitch.
I am going to call tech support at Verizon.
My area is one of the last to finish undergoing the merger of cell phone towers between Alltel and Verizon. Phones broadcast a signal that identifies the provider. Verizon customers have phones that either broadcast a Verizon code, an Alltel code, or a hybrid code.
In areas like mine, phones are set up to send a hybrid code, so both Alltel and Verizon towers can be used. Whenever my phone connects to an Alltel tower, it cannot provide location services well enough for the "My Location" weather feature to work correctly.
Verizon had a problem with customers being able to use VZ Navigator on hybrid-code phones and fixed that one already. The Verizon rep I spoke with said that my problem should be resolved by...

Yesterday, I drove around Montgomery, trying to pick up 3G signals. They are few and far between and very ephemeral when found. I found a spot with 3G service, where I could pull off the road and safely surf. I called up the weather page, switched to "My Location," and updated. Sure enough, the words "My Location" changed to "Montgomery," and the weather updated correctly.
This morning, at home, with 1X service, I repeated the experiment. "Montgomery" changed to my location, and the weather screwed up immediately.
Verizon either needs to take action to ensure that their 1X subsystem correctly provides location services o...

There were a couple of spots between Indy and Grand Rapids where all I got was "My Location"; the majority of the time, the locality is dead on.
It is just a slight annoyance that it cannot always show me where I am; If I really need to know, I just fire up Google maps.
