HTC Droid Incredible
texting: Incredible vs. Motorola's Droid?
The side be side comparison said that the texting was difference from each other but in the store today I didn't see too much difference? Anyone know the differences besides one is all touch and one has slide out keyboard? Thanks 🙂

After having them both I really dont see much difference excluding of course the physical keyboard of the Droid. I had some trouble with that keyboard at the beginning but as time went on i think you would get used to it. The touch keyboards are essentially the same on both phones and remember if you dont like a keyboard you can always download one of the many available from the market.

Thats what i did. I had the droid first but for ME it was just too big and heavy. I loved the build quality,its fantastic. I prefer the smaller size and lightweight of the Incredible,it fits well into a back pocket and for me because it has rounded not squared edges feels better in my hand. I also noticed the faster processor in the Incredible. I know you can juice up the one in the Droid(King Menno can probably help you with that)but id rather not mess with things like that. Other then that the 2 phones pretty much operate the same. Good luck and theres really no bad decision there,its all based on personal preferences

Easy way to separate them:
If you like heavily customizing your phone (or like the idea of it), especially if you have an interest in overclocking, etc get the Droid. Cyanogen (one of the BIGGEST names in the droid development community) has a teammate working on the Droid (Koush). It also has a physical keyboard and an all metal construction with scratch resistant glass.
The Incredible is more of an "out of the box" device. It is a lot more user friendly initially than stock android and sense adds some awesome features. The tradeoff is that the development community is smaller, and there are fewer chances for customization without giving up all the innovations of Sense.
So it comes down to personal preference. Either phone is ...

There's probably not a whole lot of difference with the virtual keyboards. I had problems with the Droid virtual keyboard at first, but I didn't actually own the phone, I just tested a friend's phone alot. I don't have the Incredible, but the keyboard on the HTC Eris a breeze, and today I played a bit with a friend's Incredible and it seems exactly the same as mine. However, I just got used to my phone, and I think eventually I would have become used to the Droid's as well.

Part of Sense UI is a phone keypad for texting with XT9 text recognition. The eris has it, and so does the incredible. Its great for someone who is used to texting on a plain phone without a qwerty. The keyboard will auto rotate and go from 9 key to qwerty; the eris lags a little on rotation but the incredible seems pretty snappy. I'm not a big fan of texting on a touch screen because I generally don't want to hold the phone with two hands, or hold it with one hand and type with the other, so for me the good ol' T9 keypad was a lifesaver, and influenced my initial purchase of the Eris vs. the moto droid.
