Considering jumping from blackberry but rely on Outlook sync. Already using Gmail so no worries with email but Tasks, Notes, Contacts, and Calendar. Can I sync them with the Android platform?
Also, Incredible seems just that but at end of day I need a phone...you know, the talk function! Is clarity and signal strength good because seeing some very mixed reviews? Thanks!

I was a heavy BB business user and switched to the Incredible. Lasted one week and and went back to BB. Phone has fantastic features but is not business user friendly IMHO. Battery does not last the day with just moderate use. Phone reception was terrible compared to BB. Touch screen extremely sensitive....almost impossible to type on vertical keyboard. Could barely see the screen outside.
As far as a smartphone it is INCREDIBLE....just not for me. Oh, and yes it easily syncs to Outlook.

Set up Outlook to sync those things with your Gmail account and then migrate to using Google Calendar/tasks etc

I have never owned anything other than a blackberry for the last 12 years. The fact I now can sync my work calendar, contacts and email with my droid incredble without the need to be setup on the BES server and without needing the Verizon BES service is a huge thing.

I havent run into any of the issues that Schaplin is mentioning, i can see the screen just find outside (unless i have sunglasses on, then its a little dark).

I get a day and a half out of my battery on moderate use, sometimes less, but since I charge it while im sleeping, its not an issue.

Quality of the calls on the phone, usually averages between good and very good, I have not had an issue with people hearing me clearly.

Just an FYI despite what hte signal sh...

thanks for all the feedback!

I love the google calendar so moving to google apps would be great. But is the $50 a year for the service the only way to go? Other solutions out there?

I need a phone that will sync with Outlook like my blackberry...but can do web and other tools well (blackberry does outlook and calls really well and that is it!). I like the idea of Google Apps but wondered if there's another solution that won't cost me $50/year.

What $50 per year are you referring to? We have not $50 per year plans.

Google Apps Premium (the one that includes full Outlook functionality) costs $50/year. Not concerned with finding the right Verizon plan...just the right phone.

I second that, with CDMA network phones it does not matter what the status bar says, you can get clear call with 1 bar and above. The only time the signal matters is in data transfer.

You didn't mention if your Outlook sync is standalone or BES. Assuming that you're referring to cabling-up to an actual PC then HTC makes a product called "HTC Sync." You'll need to check compatibility with older versions of Outlook (HTC's website says Outlook 2000 isn't supported but many users report that it works fine) if you expect any meaningful support in the event of issues, but you should be okay. Keep in mind that Blackberry and Android devices are not marketed toward the same users so you may lose a thing or two that the Blackberry does that the Droid doesn't.
