Nokia 6585

If I got an unlocked 6585 on ebay, and activated it with Verizon, would the voice mail indicator still work (like the little icon that shows up on the screen and the alerts to let you know you have a new voice mail)? What about for text messaging (would text messaging even work if the phone wasn't made specifically for VZW)?

I've seen some Nokia 6585's for sale on Ebay that claim to be compatilbe with the Verizon Wireless Network. Does anyone know if anything is needed to have this phone work on the Verizon Wireless network?

I am seriously looking for a new phone and i was wondering what you think of the reception and the ability to stay connected in a call and how the sound is on the phone. I was thinking about upgrading from the nokia 3586i. I heard there is a camera you can buy for the 6585 to use with the camera and i like the fact that it has speaker phone. I just don't know how the reception is because it does just have an internal bar atenna. I heard it's better then the nokia 3586i. the 3586i does bring out the bass more in calls which makes some people harder to understand to.

Is there a way to keep the display lit longer? It seems to turn off off after 5 seconds. Very annoying when trying to enter info. Also display related, it seems to be very dark when not illuminated. So dark I can't read the time on the screensaver or the display without pressing a button to get it to turn on for another 5 seconds. In any lighting conditions. Again, very annoying. Otherwise I do like the phone a lot. Thanks

I really hope this doesn't come in that puke-green color that is in the picture here. Nokia's website shows a white one, that'd be much better. Just anything but the green! 👿
