Hello eveyone,

I am new to this forum and if someone can answer me these questions I would apprecoate it very much.

I've been following the v810 for a while already, and have read most of the posts here on it. You all seem to be saying that it is not coming to Verizon and this sadly seems true. However I do see that is has been recently released for U.S. Cellular.

My main question is, on the Motorola website you can purchase the v810

(http://commerce.motorola.com/cgi-bin/ncommer ce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=260910&prmenbr=126 &phone_cgrfnbr=1&zipcode=)

and it says "Phone Only". I am wondering, if I purchase the phone there, could I then use it on Verizon's netowrk? I don't see why not but is there any reason that it wouldn't wor...

Yes it does have a speakerphone function. It also has a headset jack (right on top center) although it is not listed in the specs here for some reason.
I almost got one the weekend but balked when the USC salesgal tried to hit me with an activation fee.
You can probably buy one from Motorola and since it would be unlocked it should work but why would you want to throw that much money away? You have to know they are going to charge you the full list price. You can find it for sale on Ebay right now where it is going for about $300 depending on the bidding.
I suspect the Ebay price will drop gradually.
There is no such thing as a perfect phone and in a month or so Verizon will have something that is just as popular and nice.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I know, it is a lot of money ☚ī¸ if I really wanted to I could get it but it might not be worth it as you say.

I am really drawn to the phones size, color screen, cam, etc. But maybe I will wait, and see if they come out with the v265 by the end of the year. Hopefully it won't be much bigger then the v810 and have similar featuers.

I am kind of spolied by the size because I use a V70 on Cingular now 🙂 I got it pretty cheap and it works for me. I would like to get a cell with a speakerphone though, and any other bells and whistles wouldn't hurt 🙂 but I need it to be pockatable.

Thanks for the help.

Only one detail is wrong in the chart. The 810 does have a speakerphone. The 265 is larger. But, biggest difference seems to be the weight.

Yes the V265 sounds like a great phone also.
I like the changeable metal skins for it and the 65 chords(!!) for mp3 and voice playback. If I had to choose between the two it would be hard to do. I expect Verizon to pick it up since they aren't likely to carry the V810.
I may wait a bit till I know for sure if USC is going to carry that too.
Another great phone from Motorola is going to be the Razor but that is a GSM phone so USC and Verizon both will not be able to carry it unless a CDMA version comes out next year.

Hi,

Thanks for all the info/advice everyone.

The compare chart was nice, thank you. It says the v265 is a tiny bit thinner; I didn't know that. But like you mentioned it's overall bigger and heaver a bit. Shouldn't be too much of a problem though...

The screen looks kinda small on the v265....and the v810 has around double the standby time.

No phone is perfect though, so I will most likely get the v265 because it is closest to what I want.

Also U.S. Cellular does not have any service in my area, but thanks for the suggestion.
