Motorola V810
OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Verizon bags the v810
Analyst Day at Motorola, 7/28/04
"Although we believe Verizon forced Motorola to redesign the antennae on the V810 CDMA camera phone, we learned that Verizon will not be offering the V810 after all, representing what appears to have been a wasted expense for PCS."
The v810 is officially dead.
And, while it seems like Verizon won't, your subject line is dead wrong. There is no comment from Verizon about it being dead. This is some 3rd-party impression.
I still think Verizon will sell the v810. So what if the T730 has BT? Talk about old? That's even older than the v810 and with a form factor that's close to the v710. The v710 has BT and one day Verizon will have a RAZR V3 variant that will have it, too.
markrogo has said Verizon would debut the v810 after the v710. Let's hope this is correct. The v810 will sell and fills a big need. Not everyone wants all the bells and whistles; there are those of us who want small and sleek.
I've been holding off upgrading my phone for the last 6 months, waiting for 810 to appear. If the v810 really is dropped, I'll go with LG vx6000...several friends have them and they are nice phones.
BTW...my current phone is a 4.5 year old Qualcomm QCP-860 Thinphone. Still going strong, but the fronts of many of the keys are scraped off and...

Yes...the form factor, design, and the megapixel camera are what attract me to this phone. I really don't see the point of being able to shoot video with a phone, but being able to snap still pictures I think would be quite handy. I can live without blue tooth...I have so far, and I seem to be quite happy. I just want a fairly compact stylish phone with decent feature set that works with Verizon :-)

I believe the v810 will still be released. This month's Issue of Glamour magazine, there is an ad for the v810.
Did you happen to notice if it has the Verizon logo anywhere on the add?

No. They are similar ads to how the v710 was advertised, still without the
VZW logo.
Since US Cellular is carrying phone starting next month and officially announced as such, figure on US Cellular promoting the v810 heavily and Moto has whetted our appetite.
I've read on HoFo that the latest news is the v810 continues to fail gps testing. Not sure what to make of that news, but it seems that US Cellular may not think that's a big issue since this would apply to its units (firmware related).
C'mon Verizon. Get on board. You'll sell a lot of them.

I've seen the ads, too. While its a good sign, the ads are generic in nature (no phone carrier graphics) and are Motorola ads only (no co-opt) with a carrier.

The same was said about the v710. I just purchased the v710 from Rad...
