Motorola V810
It's definitely coming out through Verizon...(maybe)
In response to an email I had sent to Julia Cordua at Motorola ( http://motoinfo.motorola.com/motoinfo/contact _us.asp ), I received this response this morning from a member of the Motorola Internet Correspondence Team.
"Thank you for contacting Motorola E-Mail Support.
In reference to your inquiry, we are happy to let you know that the Motorola V810 will be available through Verizon within the fourth quarter of 2004."
However, this information was NOT confirmed by my phone call yesterday to Verizon spokesperson Brenda Raney, who was impressively non-commital on whether the V810 would be available through Verizon.
So there you go. It's definitely coming out through Verizon in 4th Quarter. Maybe.

This is indeed a mixed signal...but I'll take it. I just don't get why this phone has to be so hush-hush. Verizon will sell a ton of 'em.

Well, in response to my inquiry yestereday regarding the discrepency between what I heard from Verizon and what I heard from Motorola, I received the following two responses from two different people at Motorola. I frankly don't understand the first response as it contradicts US Cellular's late-July press releases regarding carrying the V810.
Motorola Response 1:
In reference to your inquiry, the Motorola V810 is currently awaiting for the authorization of the FCC to be released.
Verizon has been, so far, the only service provider that seemed to be interested in supporting this model. However, until the phone is authorized for sale, neither Verizon nor Motorola can assure its release.

I'd wager that future responses will be just as confusing. Normally, Verizon would not comment, but it did when US Cellular said it would carry it next month. Got the "still in testing" line. So, if this phone is really dead, then Verizon should comment in some form because it was/is highly anticipated and talked about for over a year!

well at least the first response is wrong... the FCC HAS approved it, US Cellular is getting it within the next few weeks. ALthough I can't speak for Verizon carrying it 😕

I work for USCC and my store has already placed it's order for the 810. We expect to have it no later than the first week of September if not sooner.
