Notification sounds
Can you set different notification sounds for incoming texts messages for different people? I have the incredible and you can only set one for all incoming text messages..What I mean is one like for my daughter and Son..So I know who's texting before I look at it..

Im not sure if it can but handsent,sms pop up,and chompsms just to name a few can,plus you can also assign a different color note light for eash. I use chomp caause it has a "whoosh" sound when the text is sent

But no matter which messaging system I choose I have to save them as an sms notification sound. Not ring tone. Or mp3. Which I could do on my previous phone.

Within Handcent, you can choose any of the notifications on your phone, or any music/mp3 on your phone. You could even record your (or their) voice, and use that. You don't even have to make a ringtone of the song, although with most songs, it helps.

I use handcent, and all I do is after I have saved the sound I want to use is click the little gear icon at the top right of the screen while looking at the texts from that contact. Then choose Notification Settings, Notification sound, and then pick whichever sound you want from system ringtones. Or if you want to use music you have a Music selection.
