dead earpiece when using a headset ???
km166Feb 4, 2004, 7:43 PM
has anyone noticed that when you plug in a headset and make a call, you cannot hear yourself in your earpiece? when you are talking, it is almost like you are talking into dead air. my previous phone was a v60 – when you used a headset, you could hear yourself (like on a landline) when you used a headset.
any thoughts?

I don't believe I can hear myself in my cellphone without a headset either though. I think I heard something on Clark Howard's radio show (consumer guy) that a lot of cell phones work that way (you can't hear yourself in the ear piece like you can on the landline). Or at least I think I remember a discussion about that, because I remember going "hmmmmmmm, never really thought about it". I think I'm so used to it being different that I don't even notice the difference. Make sense?

when i used a headset with my v60 i was able to hear myself in the headset earpiece. when i use the same headset with the 4500 the earpiece is dead when i am speaking. it is like you are talking into dead airspace.

technically, you would think that would be good, not being abel to hear yourself talk in the headset...but most people have become so acustomed to the background noise that now they say..."crap, this sounds weird" 😳
