LG VX-4500
All Digital, Not So Good (VX-4500) (My review)
I am one of those people who research products to an extent it could be said that I have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). I've been with verizon since December of 2002. I started my service in Athens, GA (1hr north of Atlanta) with the Samsung A-310. Reception was excellent phone was ok. I left GA and then went to OH for a month still great reception. I traveled quite a bit with that A-310 (Vegas, PA, D.C., MD, OH, GA, VA) great reception everywhere. I have since been in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area.

well, if you researched this as much as you said you did then you should know that a calls get dropped because of the service, NOT because of a particular phone. also, reception has to do with the strength of the signal coming from the tower, and your digital-only phone just seems like it can't cut the mustard. i think you need a tri-mode phone, which it seems to me that you also seemed to realize. don't blame the phone, the 4500 happens to be one of the 2 best digital only phones verizon offers, just because it's not the best for your particular application and you need a tri-mode phone. and lastly, how can you review a phone when all of it's faults that you seemed to note are because you chose the wrong type of phone for your area, not bec...

I have the same love/hate relationship with my 4500.
I use the phone 99.5% of the time in my vehicle-plugged into my cigg lighter. Sooooo, I got an external antenna.
Seems to have solved most of my problems. I usually pick up 2 additional signal strengh bars, enough to keep from dropping most calls and get reception in marginal areas.....even areas that my tri-mode didn't work.
Don't like the idea of being tied to a cord, but dislike the agravation of dropped/poor/no calls even more.
