THE LG LX 5550 PHONE BITPIM AND DATA CABLE GUIDE!
I am using 0.7.18 of BITPIM
STEPS:
1. Purchase LG6000 Data cable from New Egg - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp ?description=75-551-101&depa=0
2. Install Driver CD that comes with the Data Cable. Restart computer, when you get to the desktop and windows is finished loading, Plug in cable and phone to USB port. If it asks for more drivers, let it search automatically, It should find the CD in the drive and take the drivers from there. You may need to restart again.
3. Download and install BITPIM from the following site: http://bitpim.sourceforge.net/
4. Inside of BITPIM, go into settings and tell the program your phone is an LG LX4500 from the drop down menu.

did everything in your post but bitpim wont work for me. i keep getting this error: BrewNoSuchDirectoryException: No such directory
also, i can't switch between ports. theres only available one, "Prolific USB-to-Serial Bridge (COM 3)"
bought this phone with the impression it was easy to upload stuff onto it. can anybody help? 😕
