Leaving AT&T Wireless???

Have you purchased an MPX200 through AT&T wireless, been treated poorly and are now considering, or have, left AT&T for another provider? If so, what has been your experience?

Right now I have 6 months completed on a 24 month contract; they are billing me at a different rate than promised, adjusting the bill for the different rate, then adding in charges that still push the monthly bill above what I was originally told it was going to be.

On top of that, the mic went dead on the phone I got for my wife under this national family plan, so she has to use the ear bud/mic combo. AT&T won't replace this 6 month old phone unless I pay them a $24 processing fee.

All-in-all this has been a pretty nasty experience for me. If I had known A...

OMG I hated AT&T for the 2 months I had service with them. I originally was tempted to give them a shot since at the time they had a money back guarantee after 1 mo., and I really like the selection of phones they have/had over Sprint/Verizon/Nextel (my previous carriers).

Unfortnately I waited 1 month too late and was forced to endure 25-45 min. on hold just to speak to a customer service rep. and have them explain all the over charges and misrepresentations they had given me when I confronted them. It seemed like whatever I did to lower my statement, it became irrelevant and I was subjected to extreme monthly payments that did not resemble anything I was led to believe I would be paying a month.

I ended up doing what I sh...

I was fortunate in that my mpx200 was unlocked and with the unlimited internet data package, I can fully enjoy all features of this phone for one flat monthly fee (like browsing the internet - for real!) and not get charged obscene amounts of money.

Your MPX200 was already unlocked? How did that happen?

Thanks.

😉 I bought the phone unlocked from eBay! I have done preliminary research in case I was to get a locked mpx200 instead of an unlocked version, and I after doing a google search for remote unlock mpx200 sites, I found many sites that offer that service, for a fee (around $40 I think...) but cannot vouch for one in particular since I never had to use it.

I think someone earlier posted a message saying she was able to use her "locked" AT&T phone on the T-Mobile network as well without unlocking it. All she did was switch her new t-mobile sim card in the her mpx200 and voila! it worked... hope that helps! 🙂

That's 😎 ! I think I saw somewhere, either in this forum or MPX200.org where AT&T MPX200's prior to Dec. 2003 were unlocked and if so, then I'm okay. I signed up for TMobile the other day but haven't received a response back regarding my submission. Hopefully soon. My wife's phone went completely dead on her and we've got to have a carrier that can provide reliable service for phones and service. Thanks for the information.
