Samsung SCH-A690

Anyone verizon user know whats the deal with the samsung a690. Will it ever come out or what? Phonescoop has every feature that it has filled in the blanks when u preview the phone on this site and it even states in the description that its specifically for VERIZON. Whats the hold up verizon or is it samsung to blame? Anyone have any info or an inside verizon connection please share the news on this!!!!!!!!!

With the release of phase 2, i wonder if this will finally come out.

I've heard that the a 690 will be a Push-to- Talk phone--any word on the release date?

When or should I say ever is this phone coming out. Absolutely ridiculous I have been waiting for this phone for a YEAR!!! Unbelievable there is no excuse that it should take this long.

When will this phone be out? Phone scoop says first half of this year which is now. Does anyone know anything different? I did hear something about December.

where the LG PTT go

I just found out they are going to put this phone out at the end of July and change the plans Aug.1th

I was just talking to a verizon rep. (4-30-04). She told me that the phonewill be out in december and that verizon will be introducing brand NEW plan. Just like nextel. the in network will be changed to PTT network and the plans will be the same (39.99) 400 mins unlim N+W, unlim PTT. Also the v60p is the reason for the 8sec delay its not verizon. With the A690 there will be a .3 sec delay (better than Nextel). 😁

This phone will not be released at all cause it failed all the testing. Next phone for verizon will be motorolla bar phone you can check it out under phones motorolla. Bad news guys, and guess what you probably heard of Sprint walkie talkie feature which is much better and they have now already 5 phones in stock for push to talk. Sprint came out with that feature only like 4 months ago and see how many phones they have already. So guys if verizon would want another push to talk phone they would already get one. They just dont need one since their push to talk having problems anyway. Dont wait for another phone like at least for 6 months more which will be motorolla model bar phone, colorless.Good luck all.

FYI, the PTT is being relaunched with full extent May 1st, so my DEDUCTION is that it will be released very soon after.

I was doing an online esn change with my V60s to my a530 and after I put my esn in it will ask me what phone model it is. The 670 and the 690 are choices now!!!! So our wait may be coming to an end shortly.

Oh god i just can't take it any more.I want this phone more than God wants it.Where is it? When is it comin out?I have been promised by Verizon that it was comin out in Dec.of 03.Then Jan.of 04,then Feb.,then Mar.,come on now this is getting rediculous now.Is this phone even goin to cure the PTT Verizon problem with the system or no? Cause if not then why even bother to release it at all.Has that PTT problem even been fixed with the V60p or no? Please somebody anybody help me!!!!!!Help me!!!!!! How sure are you that the sch-a690 will be out in april? Did you hear this from a reliable source?

🙂 Verizon has fix the latency issue with there PTT service, the delay is gone, i have been hearing word about the samsung A690 coming out in April ptt is fixed and works great.

What is the chance of this phone coming out by June? This site says the first half of the year, is phonescoop usually acurate?

Just some info for you all who are waiting on this phone. I was talking to my VZW source a month ago and he was raving about how this phone was coming along so well. Sorry guys, it hit a major speedbump. I was talking again to my source, and he said that the speakerphone on it was not nearly as loud and they want it, and they are frantically trying to fix it.

He said this: The order of likely phones out will be the Slider (out now) v810, VX7000, 9900, A670, *A690*, A790, VX8000

Where is this phone? Is it ever going to come out? first quarter, second quarter, third quarter....... everyone has a different story..........

Did you hear 3rd quarter from a reliable source? I need a new phone and am getting tired of waiting.

Does anyone know why the samsung sch-a690 is not on the samsung website anymore. I have been waiting for this phone and I want to know if its going to come out. I just don't know if it is a good sign or bad sign that it is not on the website. anyone know anything about this phone?
