Bluetooth advice

It seems everyone has questions, but nobody has answers. Oh well, I'll try anyways. I still have a couple of days before the end of my 14 day trial period.

I got the 6600. I have established a bluetooth connection, and I can send images from the phone to the computer. There is no CD (contrary to the users manual), but the PC sync software is available on the Nokia site. When I configure the PC software, I have to choose between com1, com2 and infrared. There is no bluetooth option. I've tried using all three options, as well as selecting none. No matter what I do, the PC software cannot recognize the bluetooth connection with the phone.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

The software is not made for America and the phone wasn't either. Use the Bluetooth software that came with your Bluetooth chip. If you had a Apple it would be so much simpler.

Rubbish. The software will work no matter which market you are in. Have you installed the bluetooh software that came with the bt adapter. This needs to be installed and once done you need to then make a bt connection to the phone. What you need is a BT Serial connection. This will create a new virtual com port which the PC sync s/w can then use to connect to the phone.

Get the BT adaptor, but you have to uninstall the nokia PC suite, install the BT, then reinstall PC suite or else it doesn't register the bluetooth option. It's pretty easy from that point on. Oh yeah, "easier on a mac", too bad iSync doesn't work with syncML. So this phone is virtually worthless with a mac because once again, the software makers aren't going to cater to the 3rd largest OS!

I have a BT adaptor on USB. I installed the BT driver and the file transfer works great from PC to phone and from phone to PC. If I install PC Suite that I got in my nokia 6600 package the list of communications from PC suite doesn't display the BT. Only serial and infrared. Still the SW from BT works. Could be that the driver is not compatible with PC Suite?

Connecting with PC suite is a tricky process.

Here's what I recommennd:

1. pair your 6600 with your PC
2. look in your bluetooth software to find out what virtal COM port was assigned to the 6600
3. look in your bluetooth software to find out what virtual COM port is assigned to INCOMMING bluetooth connections

NOTE: Connecting PC Suite to your phone is a 2-step process. First you initiate a connection to the phone, and then the phone "calls back" to the PC. This is why you must know the above two virual COM ports.

4. open mRouter
5. Enable (check) the virual COM port for INCOMMING connections (per item #3 above)
6. Connect to your 6600 by checking the virtual COM port assigned to it (per item #2 above)
7. Wait a few seconds,...
