Blackberry to iPhone impressions
Well my move from the Storm 2 to an iPhone 4s is not without it's problems. I may be back, but I am still on the fence about it.
Pros:
Siri is cool and almost a smart@ss at times. Best voice recognition system out there but thats not saying much because I never thought much of these systems
-no crashes, some momentary freezes, seamless and fluid device
-fun device for the masses that can make everyday life easier and ...yea...that word again...fun
cons:
-email...email...email
Anyone know you can't have iPhone and a desktop email clients running POP3 at the same time without issues? If both are set to check every few minutes or so, one of them will lock you out and not retrieve email. Outlook on my desktop is full of error codes. A...

Thanks. Excellent, practical thoughts. I was thinking about jumping ship to become an Idweeb, but will wait for a while. Still running my Storm 1 and have yet to see how an Iphone, or even a Torch 9850, would be enough of an improvement to justify the uprgrade cost.

For me, smartphones have to be for my business first. Blackberries have the advantage here still because they take a no nonsense approach to email/sms/ and messaging.

I am almost afraid to admit this, but I really hadn't played with the Torch until today at a Verizon store.
Build quality looked pretty good. At least when new I would never have known about a plastic type screen.
Surepress should not have been given up on. If you can get used to life without it the 9850 is familiar. You can easily learn it if you are a Storm user or "survivor" 🤣
It's faster, has lots of improvements to the whole experience. The increased real estates a plus. The keyboard in landscape mode is where I saw a huge difference. It's spread out more and actually threw off my typing.

I noticed that the Iphone calendar only allows a reminder up to 2 days in advance. I usually give myself a 1-week reminder on distant calendar appointments on my BB. Do you know if there is a way to alter that limitation on the Iphone?

Your right. Out of the box it only allows you to schedule alerts 2 days in advance. Found an app for that though so it looks like the issue can be addressed. "calendar-event pro"

In my situation never let a Storm go out into the elements naked. Put a case and holster on it and you can hardly see what is beneath it anyway so if it's a Kia underneath, no one but me will know it 🤣
Surepress was either slammed or coveted by those that had Storms. If they had figured out how to turn it off and on it would have made more people happy. I liked it. It kept me from making mistakes.
All of us have to move to something else at some point I guess. I didn't find the 9850 touch screen any more hypersensitive than the iPhones. Huge adjustment still. Things open and get swiped you don't want sometimes.

Common, 1st qtr. QNX? No way, Jose! Your an old timer at this. Remember the un-updates on the original Storm? They had 1001 bugs and more. Days went into weeks, weeks into months, unofficial leaks abounded and RIM did NOTHING. When they finally addressed the POS, it was two days later when they really rubbed it in, announcing the release of the 9550. So it was like, here doggy, here's a bone, but against the wall there's a new meal.

Ordered a Torch 9850. The iPhone wizbang 4s is going back as soon as my plastic wonder arrives.
My fling with Siri and the phone she occupies taught me a lot 🤣 Apple is no Blackberry and Blackberry is no Apple. I was actually apologizing on the phone for returning this. Frantic people everywhere trying to get their hands on iPhones everywhere and I don't want mine 😳 I am sure half the world thinks I am nuts for liking crackberries so much.
The rep of the other end of the phone admitted that Apple fruit phones aren't his cup of tea, but declined to say what he liked. I am guessing Android 🤣
I am not waiting 2 years for QNX. If I have to upgrade early I will do it 😁
The Storm 9550 is not on deck as a backup device 😢

The guy behind the counter discouraged me from looking at it, saying that "it had some issues." He pointed me to a Bold. I told him the small screen and crude little keyboard buttons didn't do anything for me, and left with my old Storm 1.

It may very well have had some issues. Verizon just released an official OS update yesterday with a lot of bug fixes. The Bold got an official OS update too with big red. I am sure there are all sorts of hybrid OS's floating around on Crackberry also.

Ahh common you guys, that 9850 looks pretty good to me lol. I had a Pearl for 2 years and then jumped to the S1, my poor wife futzed around with a variety of BB's and got the S1 at the same time, then jumped to the S2 which she still has but it's on it's last legs. I love my DINC1 but I sure do miss all that a BB can do; stuck with it until 12/12 so I'm hoping by then QNX will be out on a large screen phone and life will be good but with Mutt and Jeff in charge at RIM that's not looking to good. In the meantime I'm going to put her butt into the 9850, she's a BB girl and needs one to keep in touch with her family/friends back home (Indonesia, the land of BB's).
