BlackBerry Torch 9850
iPhone back to Blackberry impressions
My fling with the iPhone is now history and I have a brand new 9850 in my hands...whoopi 😁
First thing I did was go to Seidio's website and order a case, holster and mandatory screen protectors. I like their products a lot because you are not pulling off the case to put the phone in a dock every night. Except...there is no dock for this thing yet from Seidio 😳
Like Stormsurvivor says, the screen protectors don't cover the entire exposed surface of the phone because the screen is all one piece of seamless plastic. We will see how this holds up over time.
Other interesting things:
-The lock button is now top center which is completely covered if in m...

Very good first impression on your new device. Good luck with it!
I would like to comment on a few points you brought up about form-factor, and cosmetics. I agree the Storm2 stock zen icons are pathetic. I've circumvented that by DL several themes with much improved icon design. It brings a pleasant and custom look to my device. It seems as if RIM will not go to the plate providing OS7 theme-builder tools. So that aspect has been thrown under the bridge.
I find your remarks abo...

The Playbook is misguided though. The iPad is that market segment.
I am not sure I agree about the articles mention of 4G.
Apple and RIM put battery life above being at the forefront of 4G. The chipsets that will give 4G decent battery life will be out next year. Apple didn't even try it stating that putting it in would create too many compromises at this point.
Apple gets a pass in the article, RIM gets blasted.
If RIM stays a business device I am happy. Let the masses get their iPhones and Android devices. I still can't use them for work yet.
Oddly enough, If I only needed a personal phone I would look at something else at this point 🤣

This HTC device buries anything RIM has in their stable and will be released with the new Android 4.0 OS within 3 months.
Its obvious BB is "light years" behind the competition. The stock is in a free-fall because those devices are here now!
Crackberry has an interesting article on the stock basically saying investors have bet RIM won't make it which is tanking the stock.

"I'm not giving advice here, but I have personally taken the view that the market is wrong. Sure, RIM is in a heap of trouble right now and the company has its work cut out. But they also have 70 million BlackBerry subscribers, and that number is climbing by about 5 million per quarter. Aside from the U...

RIM really is quite lame right now. I still carry the Drip2 for AOL pushed mail and amazingly it still turns on (after a 10 minute re-boot only). The main device is a real phone...The new Droid Galaxy Nexus with the 4.0 ICS. I spent too many years fantasizing what it would be like to carry a non-tinker toy.
You could speed the process up. Let the Torch reside on the same Desk as your 9500 stuff. I think...

I told everyone the Playbook was a mistake! All these companies...HP, RIM blew it big time by flooding the market with tablets. It was really Apples market in the first place. Perfect textbook example of companies not understanding their core business. Whoops! 😳
Congrats on your Galaxy Nexus! My paperweight collection is growing for sure 🤣 I still like my Torch for business 10x better than the iPhone was handling things. Maybe Android next time if the RIMpire falls to the dark side...

Continued productivity with your Torch. I have doubts the "dive" has reached bottom with RIM stock valuation. Its not only the PlayBook disaster resulting in their pathetic position in the mobile communication business. T...
