Using the Note as a GPS
Hi.
Do any of you have physical expierence using the Note as a stand-alone GPS device.?? I want to explore some of the Mountains, and A.T., and other Remote places (where there's No Cell phone coverage available - by any carrier).
Thanks, I am very interested if the Note can function in this capacity - as a stand-alone GPS device.

I use the Note as a GPS device while driving, with Co-Pilot Live as the application software. I'm not sure whether its the larger screen or the latest version, but it is a much improved user experience over both my iPhone and HTC Inspire.
For walking and remote areas, I use the Note with Google Maps, and it works great!

Ok. But what about when you Walk, or Visit a really remote area, where there's No cell phone carrier service..... That's what I was asking about. (For example, when you go mountain climbing / back packing in a large National Forest with no cell towers or coverage from Any provider....)
Can you still utilize a NOTE as a stand alone GPS using just the satellites.?? Could you try it & report back to me what you find out. Plus, look at page 151 of the user manual.... where it talks a little-bit about using just GPS with satelites. Thanks. tak to ya soon.

Sorry, I hadn't logged on to this forum in severalk weeks.
Yes, the Note GPS function works with no SIM card inserted. Both Google Maps and Co-Pilot Live work on my European Note without the Sim Card (I alternate between the Note and My iPhone 3GS for a phone).
