Samsung SCH-A650
When is the 650 Going to be Replaced, and with what?
Currently, I have a Samsung 530, which I like a lot, and I'm interested in moving up to a trimode phone WITHOUT a camera (my work doesn't allow cameraphones, an increasing trend).
I thought about the 650, but ended up not getting one for the following reasons:
1. No external screen.
Sorry, but this is huge for me. I want to be able to just whip the phone out of my pocket and see who's calling or tell the time without opening the phone.
2. No speakerphone.
Had one on my old Audiovox, and it was about the only thing I loved about that phone. When whatever company has you on hold with the bad elevator muzak playing for umpteen minutes, there's nothing better than NOT having to have the phone glued to your head. Ditto for checki...

I heard there is a replacement for A650 coming soon (though I don't know how "soon" it will be). It has external LCD (though it's mono), but no speakerphone, and I have no idea about battery life...
By the way, I personally like A530 a lot too; it's my No.1 non-camera phone! It's small and cool!

i find that this phone is great, text internet, IM, voice dialing, 65,000 color screen. external screen is no big deal, just open the phone, you can still exnor them. once the phone is out, what one more step. and speakerphone is loud and everything around is said to the other person. it also drains the battery life alot.

Umm... the 650 doesn't have a speakerphone.

i think he meant that with any phone, the speaker phone is good at picking up ambient noises and it drains the battery, hence why he likes the 650.

The a650 replacment is likely to be the N330 its not a flip.. but its a pop up LCD w speakerphone it is the next entry level phone for samsung on the Verizon network..I also have been told this phone will be out later this month so I only give the a650 till the end of summer and I think Verizon will stop carrying it... I just hope they fixed the distintive ringer issue they have had with the a 650
