data

bought HTC ONE 5 weeks ago, noticed I'm using over 3gigs of data in one week, I can't figure out where all this data is going. Only in my data usage the internet data is 3.2 gig. Can anyone give my a clue how to figure out whats using the data. I know I don't use this much on my laptop. We bought 2 HTC One's the same day, one of them works fine, the other is a data hog.

Hunh? what?

If I'm remembering this wrongly, please correct me, but I thought the One wasn't gonna be carrier-restricted (loaded with bloat & delay upon delay of updates) like the One X and literally every other Android phone. Wasn't that one of its selling points? Why is only the Sprint version getting it?

You must have your old receipt for your trade in phone

From their fine print:

"Used Smartphone Devices that are sent in that do not qualify either because a) the model of used Device is not eligible or b) the Device is not in the condition stated or c) does not have a qualifying Proof of Purchase will not be eligible for Program and will be recycled without any payment and any OEM incentives are forfeited. After your mail-in your used Device, you cannot get it back, even if you return the merchandise you purchased."

initial setup (sprint)

hope the s4 doesn't "make" you provide a samsung account like the htc one does with an htc account.

atleast with the sprint version our customer had to either sign in with facebook or htc account

but we had 3 and sold 3 pretty fast.

nice phone though

Cannot be installed on HTC One yet

Why is everyone saying this can be installed on the HTC One. You can download it now but it doesn't work. Just redirects you to the Facebook App. 🤨

Why are ALL phones too big?

I'm so glad you came out and said how you feel 4.7" phones are too big! I entirely agree and really feel like the 4" screen on my phone is already beyond the limit of what I'd ideally prefer. The Droid 2 with it's 3.8" screen and qwerty keyboard remains the PERFECT size for a smartphone imo and I really wish there was anything remotely close to that coming out this year. I feel like there is a huge hole in the Android ecosystem for smaller phones with and without physical keyboards as all phones are giant, boring slabs I can't use with one hand.

No Sprint LTE in San Francisco? Huh?

Sensorly definitely indicates otherwise:

Any reviewer who cannot locate any Sprint LTE in San Francisco for testing is incompetent, lazy, or has defective equipment.

Not a good showing, Phone Scoop...

Can someone verify for sure which WCDMA/UMTS bands are in this unit.

For the Sprint model, Phonescoop says 1900/2100; Engadget says 700/AWS.

Both of these however are rather unusual combinations (usually it's 850/1900/2100 or 850/900/1900/2100).

Does anyone know for sure?

network performance.

Really a shame you werent able to test this phone where LTE is available such as in most of TX for example or part of California LA has had a 4G LTE signal for Sprint phones.

Saw that on a friends Sprint phone. Performed pretty well. Definitely smoked my Tmobile 3G (HSPA+) data speeds when we compared the two.

When I compare ATT LTE to my Tmobile 3G (HSPA+) its pretty sad that they are pretty much the same noticed it is pretty inconsistent ATT LTE.

Have nothing bad to say about Verizon LTE its just on point every time!

New camera samples

FYI, I added some additional camera samples, including some 100% crops so you can see the full detail, and a macro shot.

All USA reviews seem to have had European models - worrying?

I'm from the UK and I note that all the american reviews seem to have been done with European versions of the HTC One. The launch in the UK has just been delayed by at least 14 days due to shortage of phones. My dealer reporting that stock had been diverted to the USA. I pre-ordered on Feb 28th and had a date of March 15th for delivery now it's probably some time in April.
Just realised you are reviewing with my phone! I now we have a special relationship but this is taking it too far!

HTC is bringing their One to Sprint before Samsung launches their S4

I wonder if this will effect Samsung sales of the S4 on Sprint.

Sprint sure is being slow about their LTE rollout, haven't heard any announcements of new LTE markets recently.

Well that just sucks

really sad news for HTC... to longer be considered a top tier manufacturer has got to be hard blow to morale in addition to all the other short comings that they have had as of late

Why use the name "One" again???

HTC dropped the underwhelming "One series" last year. Why would they name their new "flagship" device the same thing?

I would have thought the smarter play would be to come up with something totally new.
