dual mode in america?
is it technically feasible to have both cdma 800+1900 and GSM 800+1900 all on one chip? this is a great phone/idea from samsung but i have a cdma and gsm line both in the states that i would like to consolidate onto one phone.

Technically? Sure.
Will it happen? No. There's just no real business case for it - for either carriers or manufacturers.
The only business case I can think of would be something like T-Mobile, back when they were VoiceStream, they had the only GSM network, and their coverage sucked. Back then, it would have been nice if they could offer CDMA roaming. But even then, the business case was not very strong. They did offer an analog add-on option for one Nokia GSM phone, but they never promoted it much.
These days, both GSM and CDMA carriers have adequate domestic roaming options within their respective technologies, so there's just no need for a dual-tech phone to use domestically.

Just to let you guys know. The GSM 900/1800 are overseas frequencies they are not used in the U.S. Currently the only way to get a world phone would be to sign up on one of the U.S. GSM carriers and get a world phone 1900/1800/900 GSM. This would give Verizon customers that travel to Europe and Asia a phone to use. I think that this phone would be practical and would be a great addition to Verizon's line up

i think you are wrong and this phone will be very usefull for customers who want to get best of both worlds gsm in europe and cdma in usa. i think that this phone will be in demand with verizon.

I agree 100% that this is great and useful for Verizon customers! I think you misunderstood something I said. 😕 I was only saying that I don't think anyone will make a phone like this any time soon that also works on U.S. GSM networks.

i agree with you in that. idont think gsmcariers would want to share the network in us but gate phone that can do both in us will be nice. sorry for misunderstanding i didnt pay att to the fact that it was 1800 and 900.
