Nokia 6230

Can someone please help me? My moto razr quit working the other day so I was going to start using my nokia 6230 again. When I put my sim card in it say phone restricted enter restriction code. I and my service provider have tried everything and nothing works. My sim is a 3g. I can put my husband's sim in at it will work fine, his is not a 3g sim. My sister has the same exact phone and a 3g sim and her's works fine. Any suggestions?

My 6230 was stolen so I bought another one. Everything's more or less the same, but when I go to the Organiser and create a Note, I can't change the size of the text. My stolen 6230 would be able to do this.

Hi this is my first time here. I've had my 6230b for almost three years and don't want to get a new phone when this one has more features than the new ones. I'd rather try to update this and learn how to use it's features better.

Can cellphones get viruses like a computer? I have been downloading from Mobango and ever since my battery will have 5 bars or more and then out of the blue it will be down to one bar warning me. I turn my phone off and I am back up in bars again for awhile. I am assuming I need a new battery after 3 years use but I just want to make sure I don't have a virus.

Has anyone here had problems with the more recent 6230s crashing / locking up? Cingular isn't selling them anymore for now (see this thread:

) because the newer phones are crashing - they have some kind of conflict with Cingular's service.

What I'd like to know from you all is:

1. When did you get your 6230?
2. Did you, or are you, having lock-up problems with it?
3. If so, did you find a fix?

Hello, I recently tried to export my SMS messages from the 6230 phone to a .csv file through PC Suite, version released in Nov. 2006. The feature worked great, the messages came out fine in the .csv but with one major problem - the time of the SMS's is 6 hours ahead of my time (I am in US Eastern Standard time). Does anybody know a fix so that I can get the .csv to reflect the true time of the text messages? Maybe i would need to set this up in the phone itself, although my phone links with the cingular service and auto-sets the time. I couldn't find any way to set this feature in the PC Suite interface itself

Has anyone ever tried using there cellphone as modem meaning for dial up access?

If so do you need a data plan?

I tried doing dial up thru my phone connected to my laptop but it didnt work but if i just dial the number on the phone manually then i hear all the dial up noises.

Some reviews give 6230 signal reception great reviews but I've had lost calls galore since August or so. May until August seemed great. The base-unit I bought to charge it, that also forwards call to my home phone, stopped working then too. Cingular claims there's no tower problem near me, but I can sit in one spot and go from 5 bars to none at random, like the signal from some more-remote tower that I'm actually using now gets lost.

So, is the phone very good, and is trying its best to use a poor signal, or should I go for another, better phone?...

One reason I bought the 6230 is the MP3 player. One place I like to listen to MP3s is on an airplane. However, having a cell phone on during a plane trip is not allowed. Is there a way for my to safely disable the phone reception so that I can use it in-flight?

I am currently usins a SE S710a, but it is a bit on the bulky side. I was thinking about buying a used Nokia 6230 around my area. In 2 weeks it will be available. I was just wondering what everyone here thinks about this phone. I've extensively read the reviews of several websites...but I want to hear what you think of this phone, honestly. anyone know what phone cingular is replacing the 6230 with on an insurance claim?

Hey.... anyone know how to increase the memory capabilities of this phone? If it is able to read up to 256mb, why would it not be able to go up to 1gb and beyond? I see advertisements for mmc for it way beyond 256, and would like that feature on mine also....

I have had a new Nokia 6230 for about 6 weeks now. Several times (about 6 or 7) I have noticed that my phone is powered off when I wake up in the morning. At first, I thought that I inadvertently turned it off. Nope! Plenty of juice in the battery too. Has anyone else experienced this problem and resolved it? Could it be software as well as a hardware failure? Thanks, Dave
