Excuse me in advance if this topic has already been answered, but I was wondering if this phone had the ability to instantly receive messages/reply to messages on the phone itself without having to connect to a server. My current GSM phone gets and sends text messages with speeds close to that of MSN or AOL on my PC and I have heard that Sprint was different and required an intermediate step which slowed down the process.

sprint's old system required (and older phones still do) you to access their Wireless Web service to send and receive txt messages. all new phones now come with SMS messaging that does not and works just like txt messaging with other carriers. it just took sprint a little longer.
