LG VX-7000
Help me decide on which phone to get..
I am debating between the LG 8000 and the LG7000. I would like to know if anybody has had or heard of any problems with these phones. So far, from what I am reading, the 7000 seems like the phone to go with as there are people reporting problems with the 8000 already such as shutting off on its own, and freezing up, have not seen that in this forum on the 7000 yet.
Any ideas would be helpful. The 8000 offers VCAST, but, that don't matter to me, wont be using that. Besides the speaker phone part of the 8000, and VCAST, that is about the main differences between the 2 and the 7000 is $70 cheaper. As of now, I am leaning toward the 7000 unless you guys can tell me different. And I am not interested in a motorola, back in the startac day...

Hello I own both phones and have had no problems with either one. You are correct that the main difference is that the 8000 has the evdo and speaker which is very good nobody ever can tell that I am on a speaker phone let alone a cell speaker. I have had the 8000 for 3 weeks now and it is a little bigger than the 7000 which when I was looking at them both last night the 7000 seems small now? go figure.
I like you used to be a huge moto fan but since i switched to LG they are far more superior!!! You will not go wrong with either that you choose. Oh one last thing you do not get a holster with the 8000 you will have to buy that separately the 7000 comes with one.
Also the camera is a little better in the 8000 since it is a 1.3 mega but for ...

honestly this is really good feedback and definitely should read it over and carefully tyhink about it
i had this going back and forth in my head
then i just got tired and ordered the 7000
some of the reason was the 8000 still wasn't available on my emp website
but it actually turned out to be a good thing
1) i like the size of the 7000 better not as wide and alot flatter
2) same screen setup and menu which i like
3) speaker was good on the 8000...really didn't need it
4) $100 vs waiting anxiously to spend $200 for vcast phone
7000 all the way...plus it comes with a clip...something i need more than a stereo headset

I went with the 7000, so far, great phone, has not dropped calls, works good, another good LG product...I made my decision based on the fact the 7000 was out longer and did not have a lot of bad reviews, the 8000 just came out for verizon and has a couple of issues with it in the reviews, figured it is better to let them work the bugs out of them, and I did not need VCAST.
Like I said, 7000 has been a great phone so far, plan on keeping it as of now, still have 7 days left on the 15 day gurantee in case something bombs on it...

Great choice. I've tried both the 8000 and 7000, and finally went with the 7000, and I'm sure glad I did. I like the size better, and it's a cleaner looking phone. The call quality is excellent. I tried the camera on both models, and both were ok as far as camera phones go--not that big a difference. The speakerphone would be nice for checking messages, but, other than that, I'd never use it. I made some test calls on the speakerphone to my home land phone, and hated the way the speakerphone calls sounded; and this was in a quiet Verizon store; just imagine using it in traffic.
