ok, well i like extendable antennas and i was wondering: would it be possible to get the vx7000 and take the screw the antenna off and put an extendable vx8000 antenna in its place?

An extendable antenna won't do anything for you on an all digital phone. Why the VX8000 has one I don't know, but it's only for analog use. You can buy aftermarket antennas though that will fit the 7000. I actually bought a shorter one. Phone still doesn't have any reception problems
