With HTC
announcing a One M9 device in March, it honestly does not even matter when Lollipop update will complete as M9 will have it out of the box. Many M7 and M8 owners will be looking to upgrade.
However, I'd rather wait and have HTC and carriers do the roll-out correctly rather than quickly.

Fool me twice, shame on me
I would be waiting for this update if HTC hadn't screwed all the Droid Incredible II users out of ICS. That is when I stopped buying HTC. Samsung was great with the S3 and S4! I could not have been happier with my Samsung experience. Now the wife and I carry the OnePlus One. Even though it looks like they will also miss this 90 day window, Cyanogen is far superior to Sense.

Android 4.4.4
I didn't realize this was the 4.4.4 update. I don't remember reading that this was anything other than the camera update.

Decent
I love the fact that this phone as a memory card slot! The lack of a memory card slot in the HTC One was a reason that I did not get the phone. That also seems like an amazing front-facing camera.
What to choose, this or the GS5... GS5 does have 4k video capture. Tough decision.

HTC One M8 black and gold color availability question... ??
Does anyone here know when the HTC One M8 black and gold colors will be available online or even better, in AT&T stores?? I'll be buying that phone soon but all I see right now is the silver color and I'd prefer the gold color if I can... Something different... So any ideas??

Dot View Case
The swipe down to activate voice calling does NOT work on my phone. I took the case off, put it back on, power cycled, repositioned, ensured it's fitting properly, everything I can think of. Still no swipe down function. Reinstalled the app as well.
The double tap works fine. But one of the most important features that I liked isn't there. Go figure.
So today I went to the AT&T store to try it out on maybe another phone. The display phone there doesn't work with the swipe down feature either. So what gives? Is this just a software issue with the AT&T phones?

HTC 1
This phone was available in Verizon store a week and a half ago. I bought one at Best Buy on Monday.

Why is it so hard for Samsung to produce something this nice?
Not the biggest fan of the brushed aluminum (reminds me of my Note 2's craptastic back finish), but at least it
1) Is Real Metal
2) Doesn't look like a Band-Aid

Still needs removable battery
I'm glad HTC has added SD capabilities back, but can they please give us the removable battery back.
I have friends who bring extra batteries to the field with them for the Samsung smartphones because we do not have any plug ins. Just so they can have a phone that lasts a 3 days

My impressions
I just made the move to the M8 from the DNA. I'm happy but worth noting my following caveats: Hot spot and WiFi activation are slow as molasses. And Blink-feed in Sense 6.0 as compared to Sense 5.0 may offer more content options but the missing clock and the missing automated stops makes it's usability rather lame. I've turned it off.

HTC One M8 battery drain in low signal areas?
I had an htc one and loved it BUT it had one problem. In low signal areas the battery drained really fast. Combine that and slow charge speed and I had to get rid of it.
In your review did you notice faster battery drain in low signal areas?

Main camera specs?
I have a feeling they haven't improved the camera from 4MP, because they explicitly don't specify what it is (thought the HTC website states the FRONT camera is 5MP). It would be absurd, but HTC has this thing for making a FANTASTIC product except for any one random thing...
Let me add that I really want to see HTC succeed! For years I was a huige fan, and had the HTC phones, from the T-Mo SDA through the G1, MT3G, Nexus 1, Droid Inc, etc.
However in 2014 you just CAN'T put 4MP cameras on a high end phone when all other premium phones are 8MP or better, and even el-cheapos have 5MP. I know, the sensor is bigger so the pixels collect more light. But most of us aren't taking photos in the dark, and if we do, a little post processing fixe...

ONE again? really.
The phone looks great, I would love to have it, but why the F#$^@ is the name ONE? maybe its for marketing purposes or its just dumb. HTC has several phones with the name ONE, (X, S, V, etc), HTC should at least named it HTC two or HTC one II, I'd eveb be OK if oficial name was HTC One M8, but oh well.

Nice!
I would love to see a WP8.1 variant of this phone. It would only help bolster the growing ecosystem. Not that I don't love Nokia, but this would definitely be a great alternative, with proper and full support of HTC.
