Another good Motorola phone coming out in GSM. Reminds me when the v70 came out. Makes me want to switch to ATT or T-Mobile.

As soon as I saw GSM I said son of a bitch. For a backwards technology (GSM compared to CDMA), they seem to be getting pretty futuristic phones. When did quality of service become synonmous with puke like looking phones.

It must be because half of this world is GSM. This sucks but when will Motorola realize that more than half of cellphone users in this country is CDMA.

If the future lies within GSM, then why has AT&T signed a 5 year deal with Sprint PCS to use their "technologically advanced" CDMA network to offer wireless services to their customers that was not available before? I mean, why do you think AT&T Corp. is selling AT&T Wireless to Cingular?

if you read this websites forums,you would know that at&t wireless and at&t are two separate entities.cingular bought at&t out of bankruptcy. at&t signed a five year agreement w/sprint wireless so they could sell wireless services along w/their other services in bundle packages.

Actually, if you're speaking to the future of wireless technology, it's derivatives of CDMA.
The 3G upgrade to GSM is W-CDMA(aka UMTS, but it's still based on CDMA). For CDMA, its CDMA EV-DV. In the end, everything is going CDMA. It utilizes spectrum more effeciently and is better suited to handle data.
The reason GSM gets all the cool handsets is simply because they are the bigger market right now. Not because their more technologically advanced, but because manufacturers have a bigger population of people to sell to.

Um, AT&T Wireless isn't bankrupt, they're just not profitable. I own shares of AT&T Wireless, and it's trading above $14. If it was bankrupt, it would move off of the NYSE like Enron did, and maybe trade for a few pennies.
Cingular bought them to buy them and grow and reduce operating costs (expected to be savings of $2 BN per year once they combine), not because of it being bankrupt.

Enron made money because it stole from the company, not from actual profits. So when they went bankrupt they weren't going to try to work it out again anyway. But United Airlines is working under chapter 10 bankruptcy, and they're still around.
And as for the GSM vs CDMA sort of arguement, Verizon puts SOO MUCH MORE into regulating their towers than any other company in the US (Tmobile, Cingular, ATT, sprint etc). So as GSM may 'be the future' CDMA will still have the best reception for a good few years until Cingular decides to stop sucking.
