I've had my phone for 2 years. Life span question.....
How long will this phone last if it is not droped or abused? Love this phone but don't want to upgrade. What do you think?

Hey good to see I am not the only Diehard VX8000 owner. The LG VX8000 is the Hummer of cellphones. My phone has been through some very rough treatment. Now over 2 years old. I have never had any problems with it. I purchased a LG VX 8000 Dummy Phone minus the internal working parts. Switched my parts into the dummy phone. I now have a NEW 8000!
i have not seen any new phones that make me want to retire my 8K yet.

sad to say someone told me if my phone was 2 yrs old it might not last much longer. I still have it but not activated. I purchased an LG env. Not a bad phone. but not an 8000. You are right, there is not a phone out there that would be worth getting rid of it. I wish there was a sim card to swap them out when ever I want. Later.

Normally the battery will go bad. But I still have original battery. Verizon has this new feature called backup assistant. It will hold all of your contacts and auto update any additions or deletions. Never have to worry about losing your info or paying $10.00 to have verizon swap info from old to new phone.
Yea a SIM card would be nice. It wouldn't hurt verizon, just give us the option to have a little variety. I'm going to hold onto my 8000 until they get all of the bugs worked out of the new TV phones. The LG VX9400 and a Samsung that they advertise on there website. The Samsung SCH u740 looks sweet, but the verdict is still out on its performance. I hear nothing but good things about the EnV, enjoy it. They have us hooked now,...

Thank you.
I have been searching and searching for a suitable replacement for my beloved vx8000, which I bought *used* 2 years ago after diligently researching it here on phonescoop, and still use every day, at home and work (on a farm).
Needless to say, it works as perfectly as it did the day it came in the mail (doesn't look nearly as good though, duct tape patches and all).
I almost went to Nextel (dreading the lack of reception) for their ruggedized cameraphone - which has LESS memory and no alarm clock - just because I thought that eventually my 8k will kick the bucket and I had better be prepared...
But thank goodness - now I find out all I have to do is play surgeon, when the outside of the phone is looking battered.

Hey I've had mine since April 05, it truly is the best phone I've had, and probably will have. I think it could last another 2 years. Upgrade to a 8700?? Hmmmm...

After speaking with a couple of VZ reps I've decided to get the Samsung 990. Although the LG 8700 is cooler looking the 990 is by far a better phone.
