Yes, From what I hear... I know with my version if you play a Vcast video and then later try to save a picture you take with the highest setting it won't save. The phone has to be turned off and then back on for it to save a high res pic. I heard the new firmware fixes this. I also heard that the volume for added ringtones is lower with the new firmware. I don't know though. Let me know if you hear anything else I may upgrade too. I have version 4 also.

Ok. I went and had version 5 of the software installed yesterday. I had to leave it for an hour and it was ready when I went back to get 50 minutes later, so not to bad. It did fix the problem with saving a high resolution picture after watching a Vcast video. Recorded ringtones may seem a bit lower in volume, preset ones are the same. Reception is the same, I was hoping it would improve. It is very weak in bad areas, but great in average to good signal strength areas. It changes the way memory is allocated, I don't know if that makes any difference to use though. Overall I'm glad I upgraded.

Well, I don't know to much about it but I know it's different. When you go to the get it now menu and hit info then memory info it says 1.04mb/ 55.04mb
then
ram 5.09mb
This is different than before. I read somewhere that it divides it up between pictures, videos, get it now apps and such. I don't know exactly. It did fix the save picture problem though, that was my main reason along with a rumored sigal increase which did not happen.

I had version 5 installed about a week ago and I to did not notice any significant signal improvement in weak signal areas - however in these weak signal areas such as one location under a metal roof the worst signal can be 0-1 bars now as before, the phone still establishes and holds calls (no dropped calls) now as before the vers. 5 update.

Basically the phone has exceptional reception and ability to establish and maintain calls - often I notice once a call is connected in weak to medium signal areas the signal meter actually goes up i bar. I also have a moto e815 and I don't see any overall difference between the e815 and the vx8000 in establishing and holding calls (there is often a 1 bar higher signal on the moto because its effectiv...

I have had my phone for over 3 months & I also get great reception even better than I did with my old vx6100. In the hospital I work at
I can be in the elevator in the basement and still be at 1-2 bars.
One thing I have noticed is that if my power is down to 1 bar then my reception seems to be worse. I fixed this by getting a extend battery.

I also get great reception. Actually I was surprised (and very pleased) with the VX8000. I used to have the T720 and well I ended up hating the slow interface of it and battery life was so poor. but now on the VX8000, i've got excellent signal strength all over. Even when there are 0 bars, I also can make / receive calls with no problem, and they are still relatively clear. The antenna I like b/c it's retractable/extendable. of the phones I've used in the past, the ones with the extendable antenna have always given me better reception than those with fixed mast or built in antennas. The battery life also is good - it lasts like 3 days even when using it for many calls. But when i use vcast or the mp3 function heavily, it does drain t...

Hey also,
I just ordered another cable for the phone. Does anyone know, does the new firmware upgrade still allow you to use the phone as a modem? I'm thinking about upgrading to v5 but if they've locked out that feature, then I won't.
Thanks
