MUSIC?
one of my big reasons for this phone was to let go of my ipod. now i can't seem to get any songs onto the phone! i've installed the mobile phone tools and the multimedia compnent. i get the screen from where i can click and drag but my "phone" side reports an error message. i'm trying to get some itunes songs over, but i don't think they are compatible. i have a 256mb sd card in the phone already.

It plays mp3s. Ipod converts mp3s to mp4s (and I don't know why).
You can convert files from mp4 to mp3 through itunes.
If you want to find out if your files are mp3s or mp4s, do the following:
1. Open the folder that has your mp3 files in it.
2. click on 'tools', select 'folder options', select 'view' and uncheck 'hide extension of known file types'. See what all mp3s you have.
Now about the phone part.. click on 'programs' (right top icon), select 'setup', select 'USB MODE' and choose 'Mass Storage' Connect the phone and you will get two additional drives.. one for the phone, and one for your SD card. Transfer the mp3 files to your SD card.
Now make a playlist on your real player, and rock away. If you have the ori...
