Maybe they need a 2.0 update...

To fix all the Vault 7 exploits that were just revealed earlier.

Awesome...

I was hoping they would add new handsets or the ability to just buy a sim if you already have one of those, and nobody can beat Republics plans for $15 or $20. Not Straight Talk, not Cricket, and not Metro. Ting is debatable but they charge more than republic for a gig of data so we shall see come August.

I KNOW THEY HAVE A GOOD FOLLOWING...BUT.....

How are they going to compete with the national carriers? Sorry but AFFIRM is a RIP OFF, you would be better off going to straight talk, cricket, metro, etc...

Who cares

Android is stifling because of crap like this. Why isn't good multitasking functionality baked in? Why do I have to get a Samsung if I want useful multitasking? Why are bluetooth profiles such a pain in the ass to manage and keep working? Why can't android send content directly to chromecast without piggy backing off your home internet? Why can't the web browser load a full desktop version of a website to my quad HD screen as the default EVERY time without me EVER having to ask? Why can't I set a default program for a given action, and then use the context menus to select a different program when I feel like it, without having to remove the default first? Why can't I uninstall preinstalled crapware like Facebook without having to root my pho...

Will it be backward compatible?

If I send a new emoji to an android 5 phone, what will they see?
Also, you didn't mention in the article if the Nexus 7 will get the update (I assume it will).

Feeling BLU?

The BLU Pure XL is giving it a run for its money. Only big difference is the MediaTek processors.

Nice but

The BLU Pure XL just released is giving this a real run for its money.
Main difference is the MediaTek processors.
Still, just as big a beast.

Its the best Huawei yet...

Im not typically a chinese phone fan but this is a nice handset, it feels good in the hand, the fingerprint reader is quick and accurate and the camera is pretty sweet.
I'm not so worried about quality control issues, since google put their name on it, they aren't going to put out a phone with a high return rate or crap manufacturing. Now they have the new protection program too, I havent read the fine print yet, but meh, others offer similar so they might as well too.
All in all Im pleasantly surprised, Im betting this will be the year that chinese manu's make big inroads into the US market with a few high end handsets.

Knock on Apple all you want....but....

What is up with all these Android phones? It's gotten WAY beyond the three bears - have you seriously walked into a cellphone store and just counted how many Android devices there are - all the while thinking what in the hell is the point of all of them?

Now they're all going to fingerprint readers, sealed batteries and no SD cards. Doesn't sound like they're going anywhere different than Apple.

Really?

Huawei is making the Nexus? The field for a new phone just gets more and more narrow. It seems no one wants to make an appealing Android device this year. Maybe I'll just hang onto my Note 3 and see what 2016 brings us.
