I assume you mean "with the Flip closed"... The answer is No... unless you are using a headset, then the full "drive mode" capabilities are available with the phone closed...

Thanks for your reply. I just got the 9900 and it's a good phone...great phone for the price. I'm wondering if this will be a better phone. Dumb question, does driving mode mean you can just use the speaker phone to initiate and talk with the phone closed, or is it something else.

Re-read my last... I just answered that...
I know of no flip phone that allows the speaker phone to work with the flip closed... closing the flip, in effect, covers the microphone...
People keep asking this about flip phones, I don't get it, with the flip closed you must use a headset...
