You mentioned that the battery must be in the phone in order to charge it. I bought an original samsung wall charging unit that charges the battery for the LG 6100 without having to have it in the phone at the time of charging. It is a small unit- just a bit larger than the battery and the plug retracts for easy storing. It is a great unit for charging spare batteries for this phone.
