Inconsistent behavior

This phone has me totally perplexed. I think my experiences reflect many of the opinions in the Review section of this (terrifically helpful) website. When the 6100 is good, it's very very good. When it's bad, it's very bad. The features and friendliness are awesome. But from one day to the next, it is unpredictable (when used in the same cellular areas). Two days ago, no one could hear me when I made a call. Yesterday, no problems. The speakerphone is never as clear as my previous phone, a LG 2000 - but some days, the sound quality is just awful, and other times, plenty good enough. Reception has never been as reliable as my wife's (she won't give it up) StarTac, but in both Buffalo and Chicago, it has been mostly reliable. I traded...

Got this on my NE2. I'm only on the third day, but am beginning to see some odd behaviors. All except the volume bug are sporadic or happened just once. Here's the list:

- Well discussed volume bug.
- During one call, the other party suddenly couldn't hear me. It happened only on that call and not since.
- Speaker phone volume suddenly drops (auto volume is off)
- Wildly fluctuating signal bars. With the phone sitting on the end table untouched, they will go from 4 to 1 and then back up. If you open the flip, the signal drops and then shoots back up. On one occasion, I lost the "Verizon Wireless" indicator in the ERI. Looking at the field test screen, the received power is not fluctuating that much but is down around -080 dB (similar o...
