Conversation with LG Tech Support

I've been having the audio and RF bug issues since day one and had decided to live with it pending a software update, but I had to return the phone tonight.

I was in lower Manhattan today and was actually getting a signal and able to make calls in a couple of subway stations, but understandably lost service when I went to lower levels. When I came out to the street, the phone would go from no service and then stay at analog. It would never go back to digital and I was unable to make calls in analog mode. I had to reboot the phone to get it to work again every time I came out of the subway.

I called LG tonight and went over the whole list of issues and explained what had happened today. The tech I got was very nice and seemed to know ...

Funny...I spoke with them yesterday and the rep. acknowledged the problem but did not think the fix would be available for quite awhile. I spoke with a VZ national service rep today and he said he had never heard of ANY problems with this phone.
Either Verizon is purposely lieing to us all or their staff does not know much about their products. Luckly my phone is just not that loud
on high. I get better reception than I ever did with my LG VX 4400.

I think the reason that the LG guy advised me to return the phone until things settle out was because he knew that Verizon would keep denying that a widespread problem exists and would just keep switching out my handset until the 15 day period was over and I was locked in.

If I need to grab a handset because the Moto finally comes apart at the seams, I may just grab a 3200 at $139 retail (the joys of simplicity), stay on a month to month basis, and preserve the NE2 and renewal discount for a bigger toy. When I called VZW to verify that all account terms were reset, the rep said to me that she thought that they "rushed the 6100 out".

This is going to be a slipstream update. If the customer doesn't see a problem, then it isn't an issue...

Thanks for the info. Now I'm really glad I stayed away from the LG6100. I've experienced the signal fluctuations and hated it. For an LG tech guy to recommend returning the LG phone and saying they don't know when the RF issue will be taken cared doesn't give me any confidence at all in staying or getting an LG phone. I'm really glad I stuck with moto...

I respect the LG tech for being unusually straightforward. I'd love to go back to the 6100 if the bugs are addressed. Its sounds silly, but when I held the Motorola 265, I just couldn't do it - not for a 2 year contract. It just looks too cheaply made due to the materials and finish selected.

I'm of the "form follows function" school, but a balance needs to be struck. That balance actually would have been the Motorola V810, but not for us Verizon customers. If they fix the 6100 software, it would be the perfect phone (for me, at least).

This is exactly what I decided to do also... went back to my trusty 6000. I personally didn't experience too many of the extreme RF fluctuations with the 6100, but I did find the volume bug intolerable.

I loved the 6100, but it was getting to be unworkable. As soon as the audio and RF issues are cleared up, I'll be first in line to buy a revised one.

Same here!
