Not only that, it looks like with this phone AT&T is going to get the drop on WDCMA. Looks like the once crappy AT&T is seriously going to give Verizon a run for its money. Speaking candidly, Verizon is starting to resemble a dinosaur corporation. Yes the dinosaurs roamed the earth and conquered anything in its path, but its short arm and slow rates of movement made it very susceptible fast moving opponents. Business is no different, and even being a Verizon customer now, I really think that in a year or two (short estimate) that Verizon is really going to start falling apart.

And just what do you base your "scientific" claims on? The fact that Verizon has the most reliable network in North America? The fact that Verizon has more subscribers than any other carrier in North America? The fact that Veriz...

Man you are one sorry sap. You are looking at the past. Look at the future. Nothing stays the way it is. ATT will most likely be the next largest competitor. Upkeep is definetly not the equivalent of upgrading. Have you no concept of reality with Verizons coming soon. Do I really need to point out new phone implentation to really crush your tiny phallus. You decided to make this a personal slander, you pompour arrogant bastard, I am only retaliating.
Wake up and smell the java, Verizon could be much more, but I am personally frustrated with their lack of information and just overall secrecy. Nothing they say has kept to any real deadline. Wait, they dont say anything, that is the real problem. No one has any clue as to their inner workings....

I agree with HKOPOLOV...Verizon is soon going to be eclipsed by the new Cingular/AT&T. With Cingular and AT&T joining forces and overlapping their GSM coverage, they will be the dominate force in the US. The current GSM platform is superior to CDMA (just look at the rest of the world) and soon WCDMA will take hold and revolutionize personal communication once again. And, who will be driving this transformation?? Cingular/AT&T...not Verizon.

By the way...this new Motorola looks nice...better than Nokia's AT&T WCDMA offering.

much like the aformentioned creature, verizon will soon also be extinct.
Okay, this is the second time I've had to tell you ATTWS is going bye bye. You're reading the same news we are, right? I don't care how many ways you knock putting money into a network. The fact remains that Verizon's network is the most reliable. Period. And I'll let people make up their own minds about your statements on Verizon's premature demise. Do you really think they're going anywhere? Pfft.

I agree. AT&T has a bad reputation. Even with the merger pending, "free" roaming, and "double the coverage", allot of people have still left them when Local Number Portability became available everywhere. Verizon will still have more customers even after the AT&T/Cingular merger. I'm sure Verizon will do whatever they can to stay number one no matter how good or bad AT&T/Cingular ends up. I think people who switched to Verizon from AT&T will think twice before going back no matter how good they say there coverage is.

haha how will verizon have more cusotemrs then cingular/att combined. attws has about 22 million cingular has about 24 million im under guessing. Verizon even stating they overestimated their subscriber base by about 9% which leaves them in the mid to low 30 millions. not 46 million if I can add. and cingular has the best marketing by far. and has been gaining on verizon by themsevles

Basically what roade said, Cingular is nearly doubling it's customer base with the acquisition. Making it around 45 million, and Verizon is in the 36 million area. I agree that Verizon needs to kick it's self in the butt and get things going. ATTWS and Cingular are leaving them in the dust as far as innovation and technology go. I mean how phones does Verizon have that have Bluetooth? 1? and that phone will only support the headset. Not syncing with your computer. Definitely not a step in the right direction...

OK, muchdrama, reality: EV DO has data speeds of how much in North America? 200-500kbps with bursts up to 2.4mbps. How fast is WCDMA going to run in North America, that's right...bursts up to 14.4mbps with average speeds faster than most cable modems. Welcome to reality with Cingular and AT&T Wireless - sorry your company is going to hell in a handbasket.

Well 14.4Mbps is with HSDPA, but if AT&T launches it in July or whenever they're supposed to, it will be the same as Verizon's EV-DO. From what I've read, AT&T will only be launching it on 1900Mhz (just telling you what I've read). But Cingular will launch HSDPA with their W-CDMA network in 2005/2006. Verizon is supposed to be able to match that somehow with another upgrade, but I'm not really sure what it is or how it will work. Sorry!

I agree that this equipment is sharp looking!

But I dont agree with the way some people are addressing their concerns. We all are aware that everyone has their own oppinions about the service providers but really this was about the equipment and not about which service provider is better.

I totally agree, Frost. When I look back at the posts I realize that I was baited, and that I took said bait. Oh well, gotta learn to control my emotions. It IS all about the equipment. As I said before, I'm very pleased to see world support mixed in with the WCDMA capabilities. I like the looks of this phone VERY much. Hey Rich! Destroy my previous posts! LOL.
