Hiss and hum coming from speaking phone
Does any one else have this problem with their phone. The phone makes a hiss and hum sound when you use the speaker phone. The speaker is not really that good either it is very tinty and lowering the volume reallly doesn't help. It sounds very poor. I am very disappointed, if it keeps doing this I'm going to get rid of this phone. And I love Nokia.

I have my phone set for "Outdoors" because I need a louder sound.
Sometimes when I have the speakerphone/loudspeaker set to maximum, the sound crackles, but when I lower the volume, the sound becomes normal and pleasant again.

Read some o' the user reviews: the speakerphone on the 6256 isn't nearly as good as the regular speaker/earpiece (which is excellent).
I do find the speakerphone to be acceptable long as I don't have the volume up too high though. It does make a diff'rence on my phone. I also don' really get hiss, jus' some intermittent hum.

Actually my Nokia BlueTooth earbud is the better of any of them: the phone or the speakerphone. I love BlueTooth. -Lorna

After writing to you last night I looked at my 6256i and noticed that the speakerphone/loudspeaker holes are placed on the BACK of the phone, which means that if you have the device lying on its back and on anything that reverberates, then the hiss and hum and crackle will be intensified.
Therefore, when using the speakerphone, place it speaker side UP. This is what was recommended in a cNet cell phone video by Kent German, one of the associate editors.
