Will the phone automatically recognize the card or do I have to do something for the phone to see it? Also, where does the memory card folder appear? BTW, I have the the 6256i.

NO! It's quite frustrating. I've tried taking the photos in both Standard and Portrait settings and I still can't get the photo ID to work.
It's not a feature that really bothers me because everything else on the phone works so well.
I know alot of people can't figure it out. I hear the same problem exists on the 6236i as well.

When I hear people mention PIC ID are you guys talking about setting an image to show when a specific person calls? Because if so this is how you do it.
Go to your contacts find the person you want to set an image for and click on details then click on Add Image and you just need to choose which image you would like to show. It works fine on my phone. I use Alltel as my provider.
