Nokia 6255i / 6256i

Hi. I see Cellular One has this phone. I was originally Cellular One, but years ago it was bought out by Cingular, and thus, I now have Cingular service. (I live in upstate NY). I have been waiting for this phone and hoping like crazy it would be Cingular! I know Cingular is GSM and this phone is not. Will they make a GSM version? Or should I just give up my hope? Any chance Nokia will make more flip phones in the near future? I am sick of locking the keypad on my phone, but love Nokia.

I have been dreaming about this phone since I saw it posted on phonescoop. I just want to know before I buy it through cell one if the bluetooth in anyway has been disabled. I live in SD if that helps anyone.

Okay... Haven't all their recent models, and models from like 3 years ago been internal antenna models?

Why change that? Is it really that difficult to make an internal antenna?

Side-note: I have nothing against external antennas, I have an e315 and e317, and I don't have too many problems with the antenna.

I can do everything with this phone, but download mp3 ringtones. I understand that it supports aac and mp3 formats. However, everytime I try to download a mp3 tone it says,"this format is not supported." 😡 Could someone please help me with this issue? Thanks.

Thinking about getting one these! However, the mp3 is a major reason to my choice. I am wondering if there are playlists that you can set. I read on Nokia's website that the songs play in the order of the playlist you set. This leads me to believe that there really is not a playlist, rather the songs just play through in the order of which they are arranged. i.e. one playlist that is not changeable for different situations. Is this a correct assumption? Please tell me I am wrong, I would love to have multiple playlists.

Check out this link that I read about a new problem with "bluetooth" phones, called "bluesnarfing". Reason for the mention is because in the article they talk about NOKIA phones and since this forum is about the Nokia 6255i which happens to be "bluetooth". I thought I'd pass it on to everyone.

I talked with Nokia, Verizon and Alltel yesterday and Nokia states that neither Alltel or Verizon have not picked up the 6255i to be in their inventory as of yet. Does anyone know when this phone is coming out for USC???

Can someone post a picture(s) of the contents that come with the phone. I am specifically wondering if the phone comes with a swivel clip and if you can open the phone while it is still in the clip.

I recently purchased a Nokia 6255i and I love it! However, I ordered a Nokia DKU-2 cable for it, but Nokia PC Suite won't recognize my cable or phone. 😕 Could someone please help me with this problem?

it's been about 10 days since the release of this phone model at Midwest Wireless and I am already on my 3rd handset. The first one dropped several calls, reception cut in and out, battery over heated, and then powered off by itself, wont power back on and will not charge. The 2nd did the same thing minus the overheating. I dont beleive these phones were tested to the fullest extent. im on my third one now and whats sad is that i actually like this phone, even through all the dissapointment. the only thing i can think of that i havent done to this phone is program the NAM 2 menus. I dont think this phone will tolerate 2 numbers. Also, using a bluetooth headset, if you try to use the voice dial, it automatically routes audio through the louds...

Which OS/series does the 6255 use? Nokia 40 or 60? Apparently, no 40s are supported by iSync 2, but the 60s are, so I am hoping that it will be 60.

They said Verizon is expected to carry this phone but no date was stated

HolyMoto titled his review "Nokia gets it right with 6255i"...but then rated it 2.5 out of 5. Then his only complaints were that the menu key is a little small, the flip does not return phone to the main screen when closed, and the volume level of the the loudspeaker when listening to music only has 3 levels rather than ten.

Seems like a rather harsh rating for a phone that he didn't have any phone-related or very serious gripes about...? ()

I'm very interested in this phone and hope to get one soon, but I'm not clear on what type(s) of headsets the FM radio works through. Does it work with a regular hands-free unit, Bluetooth, or is there a special stereo headset you need?

Any insight would be appreciated!
