MM-7400 VS MM-A700

I am looking at the Sanyo MM-7400 and the Samsung MM-A700 and I'm haveing issues with both. The Sanyo is large plus the software and button layout seems primitive. The Samsung is a bit more expensive and does not have speaker phone. Just wondering if any one had a preference? if so why? THANKS

AAC ringtones

yeah it's easy to convert mp3's to AAC and send them to my A700 but the quality nowhere near utilizes the capabilities of the speaker. ring tones from PCS vision sound so much better. i have been using methods described here: http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.p hp?t=54271 anyway to transfer tones without butchering the quality?

Data Cable Xfer For Images, Apps?

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know if the RadioShack 17-784 datacable can be used to xfer anything on the phone including:

- Contacts
- Photos
- Java Apps
- Videos

What is the interface when plugged in? Does it just show up as a USB storage device? Do you need software to access the phone via the cable?

Tks.

Question On Photo Features/Downloading

Hi. I have a new Samsung MM-A700. I have a couple of questions on features:

1) You can take a picture and it is placed into the 'In Camera' section. You can then upload it, send it - email/phone#, assign it, etc. Works great. If you go the next step and 'Save It To Phone'...then all you can do is assign it to a caller id picture. You can no longer upload it, email it, etc. Why on earth would they have it this way? Can anyone explain it to me?

2) How do you take a picture from the Internet and get it onto the phone? Of course, I am guessing you have to connect it via a cable to your PC. What software/cable is good for this type of activity. Does it work well for you? How much is the cable/software and is it worth it?

Can anyone compare A700 with GSM Audiovox SMT 5600 (AT&T)?

I use Sprint in the US but travel a lot to Europe. I have an Orange C500 (US equivalent is Audiovox SMT 5600) smartphone and love it. Only shortcoming for me is it is not quadband GSM (US model has 850/1800/1900) and Euro has 900/1800/1900). It is much smaller than the A700 and does just about everything. I will keep Sprint for the US, and am looking to upgrade my A460. Will the A700 do everything that my SMT5600/C500 does?

Looks Excellent - Where's The Bluetooth?

I would head out to The Good Guys here in Bellevue, Washington right now if this phone had one more imperative feature: Bluetooth. I have a hard time understanding the CDMA carriers' reluctance to push their phone manufacturers to produce bluetooth enabled phones.

I'm not looking for file transfer ability, synching up with my palm or laptop or car ... I simply want to use a wireless headset. I think wired headsets are some of the most cumbersome, unreliable, annoying devices ever created, but they are necessary for using a phone efficiently. Implement bluetooth consistently and ouala! The solution. Wireless headsets have not received the credit they deserve in the US especially.

Also note: This phone does in fact support AAC (MP4) file...

Invalid URL: Samsung A700 Problems with URLs

I don't know if this is a feature or a bug, but it is 👿 .

When browsing WML pages, the Samsung will REFUSE to load any url that contains square brackets, [ and ]. They are not illegal in URLs to my knowledge, and are heavily used by the PHP community to pass arrays of values back and forth on pages.

Why Samsung refuses to load pages with square brackets, I know not, but it does.

Hope this helps someone.

MM-a700 vs Sanyo VM4500

Hey I went into the Sprint store today planning on buying the Sanyo VM4500. But when i walked in The new a700 caught my Eye. I played with it, and the Pictures and Video-clips are very clear and nice. It is a really nice phone, little to wide for my taste, and i don't like how the whole camera thing is, but i really loved it. So after walking into the Store to get what i wanted, i walked out with nothing. Now i cant decide which one to get. I like the Speaker phone on Sanyo, actually i really like it. But that really is the only thing it has over the Samsung. I am just wondering how the 2 phones Compared when Field tested. Which one did Better?

Loading Outlook Contacts

The Voice Services software folks are voicesignal.com. The have a very nice cheap piece of software that lets you download your Outlook Contacts,

It's called PCLink. Go to the address above to find it. I tried it over the last couple of days using the Radio Shack cable that they recommend. It's working beautifully.

A decent manual is out!

As mentioned in another thread, a good manual is out.

It's 222 pages and worlds better than the one that came with the phone.

It's A700.PDF

It's in a strange place. Find the phone on the Sprint site and look for the Spec Sheet link. That's where you'll find it.
