v260 voice training
Can the v260 be trained to recognized names spoken by you specifically?
My phone book had entries for both "verizon" and "home". The phone interpreted my spoken "verizon" as "home".
The spoken dial by digits works great, but I need a reliable voice dial by name because my wife is bad at remembering phone numbers.
I wish there is a way around this problem, because this phone has great reception power.
Is memory shared for ringtones and contacts?
I just purchased a V262 and I used a data cable and Mmobile PhoneTools to load a bunch of ringtones. I'll be importing a few hundred contacts soon and I'm wondering if the available memory space will be limited because of the space I've already used for the extra ringtones? The specs on the V262 say it will hold 500 contacts, but it doesn't mention how many ringtones you have or if there is a limit on combined ringtones and contacts.
Does anyone know if the ringtons and contacts share the same memory or not?
Thanks,
Steve Smith

New-Every-Two Price Question
I went to Radio Shack today and got a V260 for my new-every-two renewal. They charged me $49.99 for the phone. That is the same price that a new customer would pay. Does that seem right? I thought that new-every-two meant you got a new phone up to $100 at no cost. The RS guy tried telling me the phone actually cost $250 and he gave me a $100 instant credit and then the other $100 was my new-every-two credit. But that $250 price is with no contract - and the price I paid I still had to sign up for another two years with Verizon.
I even tried calling Verizon customer service but the guy on the phone never heard of the V260 and could not tell me how much I should have been charged, but he did say that "it sounded like I got a good deal...

Could someone please tell me how I can enter a WAP address on a V260/V262? Thanks.
USCC V262 Update
The V262 demo has reached USCC stores. Release date expected to occur now with that of the V710.
After using the V262 I do have to say it is going to be a great replacement to the T731. The phone has great key tactile response and Shortcut key selection. Also the negative colored external display is a neat new addition. My only quip would be the extremely tiny primary display. When they say thumbnail view space they are not kidding! 😛
Overall a great entry level flip phone perfect for new users or young adults.

Faceplate Colors?
I'm considering purchasing the Motorola V262 from Alltel. I was wondering what colors the faceplates come in. Are they included with the phone?

Any news on V260 at verizon stores or online?
Still waiting for verizon to directly provide a non-camera, tri-mode, external caller-id w headset answer/end. Tried the LG 4600, only had 48 hr battery life and LG seems to ignore the headset answer/end.

Really torn between the two, they both have the same basic features that are important to me. Any thoughts?

Holster
Just got a V260 from RS. It does not come with a holster to attach to your belt. Does anyone know if the holster VZW sells for the V265 will work for the V260 as well?

Verizon? When?
Is there anyone out there who knows if this will be offered by VZW, and when? Will the speaker phone be duplex (like the 710)or not?
Not than I am too picky here: I need a Tri-Mode, flip, speaker phone, dual display, web access, replaceable cover, no camera, no bluetooth that is NOT made in Korea. Is that too much to ask for? I hope not.
Oh yeah, I would also like it to to be out in the next few months with Verizon. If you know of any others that fit the bill, please let me know.
Thanks.

Multiple Numbers?
Wondering if you can put multiple numbers under one contact? I've heard that you can and that you can't so wondering what truth is.
Is the V260 smaller than the V265?
On phonescoop it has the exact spec dimensions.
For those who have seen or own both are they the same size?

Great Performance
Yes, I already posted this on the V265 Forum, in case you haven't looked there:
I already posted a user review, so I'll add this update to the Forum. I got my wife a V260, on sale at Radio Shack now. Talked to her for 1/2 hr on my way home from work tonight w/ my V265 and the call was crystal clear the whole way on both ends. I've had problems with some dead spots in the past en-route home, and didn't even notice with this phone. I'm really impressed with a low cost phone that has this this kind of jump in performance. We'll see how it lives over many months of use and abuse, but so far I'm extremely happy and proud that MOT is getting back into the game and competing well.
RETURNED
The vibrating on this phone sucks. I can barely feel it in a coat pocket. The phone also does not feel very substantial (compared to my metal faced v60). I am going back to the V60 until Verizon can offer a non-camera phone that is worth ditching the v60 for. The v260 is not the one.....A shame!!!!!!
Vibrate/Ring Options?
Can anyone tell me if this phone will vibrate and ring at the same time? It seems a lot of phones when set to that option will vibrate first, then ring -- which does not give a person much time to answer the phone if they missed the vibrate part! Thanks

Purchased v260 -my first impressions
Hello again fellow geeks!
I just purchased a Motorola v260 for one of my employees. I bought it a Radio Shack on Friday afternoon and they only had one. I played around with it Friday night and shipped it to the user on Saturday morning, therefore I cannot send you pics or check anything for you, but I wanted to post my opinions of this one.
The phone seems to be about the same size as the v60, maybe a touch wider (side-to-side) and thinner (front-to-back) than the v60s. The v260 is all siler and has a "reverse" LCD type of front display which seems to work good in most lighting conditions (light numerals on black background) 🙂 . The inside screen is slightly larger than the v60 but similar in quality to the LG4500, maybe a touch be...
