How are Powermat chargers upgradable by software? There's no connection to Starbucks wifi or Ethernet to them. In fact they're barely working half the time anyway. They got rid of all the power rings cause no one ever returned them. I fail to see how they're going to upgrade these via software on a whim. They're gonna have to just replace them. PMA was always a crap idea against Qi anyway.

Obvious bias in your iPhone 8 plus review!
Just read you long and conflated iPhone 8 plus review. The premise of the entire review seems to be how well Apple compares to Samsung and android. Other reviews I have read were not obsessed with the bezel or the confusing fingerprint I.D. This may indeed be the best smartphone now on the market. It's A11 chip is lighting fast and no Samsung or android product comes close.
The iPhone is more refined, more feature oriented and has the best quality hardware on the market but to you its boring, over and over and over again!
When you build the best hardware and software, why do you need to remake it every year? I am positive that you will have bones to pick with Apple's iPhone X.
I used to look at phone scoop as a good source of hones...

Why have we become so lazy that a very minor upgrade doesn't get nailed for being a very minor upgrade?

I doubt Apple will go along with this.
I believe for these chips to work you have to use a wired headset which then doubles as an FM radio antenna but Apple has been trying to wean folks off of wired headsets in the past few years.
