Audiovox SMT 5600 / SPV C500 (HTC Typhoon)

I can to get activesync to load. I keep getting an error message: Command line option syntax error. Type command /? for help. I have called Mircosoft, Audiovox and ATT and no wants to help. If I can not get help her I will have to return the phone. PLEASE HELP

I didn't realize, until I read it on this site, that different manufactures make the various lines of Audiovox phones. Does anyone know who makes the 5600? Just curious.

Do any savy AT&T employees know if a locked SMT 5600 will now work on the Cingular Wireless network now that they are officially merged?

As soon as the answer is YES I'm buying it... until then screw ATT. This is all I'm waiting for.

There is a great site in the UK that is actively discussing unlocking the SMT 5600. They are already unlocking the Euro versions and should have the US version any day now. It will cost about $36.00. Here is the thread:

Thanks to phone scoop, after searching for the perfect phone tailored for my needs, I find it with good reviews! The bad news is it's with the worst carrier. I've never been an ATT Wireless customer, but I've heard and read and now experienced why they suck.

If you go through their website and purchase the phone, you are required to pay a minimum of $7.99 for a data plan along with a voice plan and of course we can't forget about the $36 "just cuz we can fee". When you go to choose the voice plan, they actually mark UP the prices compared to the voice plans.

Does anyone else have this problem? When I plug the included headset into the phone the microphone on the phone itself doesnt turn off. So, when you put the phone ina pocket and talk on the headset, people can hear the noise of the fabric rustling on the phones' microphone!! Is there a setting I am missing?

Amazon isn't set up to require a data plan so I was able to order this phone with the $39.99/700min plan AND a $200 rebate from Amazon. I'll let you guys know if it goes through - the rebate is only good through Nov 3rd so if you haven't ordered, now's a good time to get it.

is there a way to get AIM on this phone?

Ive been interested in this phone for a while, as well as the mpx 220, but since the mpx is way overpriced, has a horrible camera and other problems Ive decided to get this phone. Only problem is that I have cingular. Is there any place I can get this phone (besides ebay, even though I only saw one of these phones on it) that has it unlocked?

Anyone know if this phone has a standard 2.5mm headset jack? Looks like it does, but the Cnet review mentions a required adapter.

I read a review which is saying that this does not come with a mini-SD card in the box!!!!!!!!!! The European version (SPV C500) comes with a 16mb miniSD card. Its not much, but its something.

I just got my 5600 today and it seems pretty slick but there's this one annoying thing about the screen. I seems to be rotated to the right. That is to say that when you look at it, it doesn't look perfectly straight and the horizontal lines all seem to be lower on the right side than the left. And if I look at the left vertical edge of the screen the black part (non-viewable part) gets gradually thicker as it reaches the top.

Does anyone else see/notice this? 😕

Is there a way to create a new profile? It is nice that you can change the Normal/Silent/Meeting/Outdoor ones but how do you create a new one?

I am not sure how to download and playback video files on this phone. Could someone help me. Thanks in advance.

p.s. this phone is incredible. Finally a phone maker listens and makes a phone that consumers can love.

I was all ready to add a line of service to my ATT account, and get this phone for my son until I found out you can't share minutes with this phone. ATT makes you buy an individual plan for this phone, and you must buy a data plan! My son wants it because it has an MP3 player and a camera.

Anybody know where I can buy it to use with ATT? I'm not so hot on Ebay.

Anyone know if you can set personalized ringtones for your contacts with this phone? I just got mine today and I can't, for the life of me, find an option for it.

If not, is it a "feature" of this phone or of the Windows OS? If it's a Windows issue, does the SDK expose API's that would make it possible to configure this?

All and all, I am very happy with this phone, but the ringtone thing is a pretty significant issue (and I would be surprised if there wasn't some mechanism in place to allow for this level of customization).

Does anyone know where the voice tag files are stored so I can manually delete them? I noticed that when I delete them from the speed dial application they are deleted from the list and from the contacts but if you activate voice command and say something that should have been deleted, it is still recognized (you hear your previous recording) but no number is dialed. If you record the same name again - sometimes it will still recognize the old one and not dial any number. Any ideas?

when i charge off of USB, the screen dims just like it would when it's unplugged, but when it charges off the wall plug, the screen stays on. for hours. anyone else's do this? im not particularly concerned, i can always just charge off usb, but i dunno..seems weird.
