Bluetooth headset
Finally, I broke down https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_forum.php #
Very Happy and ordered it through the AT&T website (http://www.attwireless.com/smartphone/) and after a $50 rebate for a new account, got the phone for $149 after signing in a 1 year contract. I am supposed to get the phone on Monday, the 25th. https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_forum.php #
Embarassed
Now, my question is about a BT headset. Would any BTHS work? Any recommendations, including websites for a good deal?
I also ordered a 512MB Toshiba mini SD card for $109 through http://shop.store.yahoo.com/flashmemory-store /mini-secure-digital.html
I was able to locate an accessories website: http://www.wirelessphonegallery.com/ac/audiov ox/audiovox_5600_ac.html.

GPR in use status on all the time
I have the GPR in use icon (Small G and signal-lines) shown all the time instead of the Signal Strength icon. Does anyone know why is that?

losing sound files
😡 Help. I have installed a wav file in the windows directory of my smt. I then set my alarm program to use my wav file. All is good. When I turn the phone off and turn it back on, the file is missing from the windows directory and not in the alarm program. I have tried putting it into my docs/mysounds. It stays there, but my alarm program wont find it there. Any ideas on why the file keeps disappearing?
Thanks

Microsoft Autosync - Outlook Contacts ?
Good Morning all, I have just received my 5600 and have been trying unsuccessfully to configure a few things with it.
One item that I thought you all might be able to help me with is with MS Autosync 3.7.1 and Outlook Contacts -- I have over 400 contacts split into different folders(categories) ie Personal, business, consultants etc.
My problem is I keep all my contacts in separate folders except for one contact in the root directory of Contacts - and that is the only contact that is syncs with the 5600.
I really don't want to loose my organization by dumping all 400+ contacts in the root directory, but figured someone might have some insight to my problem.
Thanks for the help.
Jeff

How to get ringtones to work
Sorry for the double post. I posted this under my last re:Update #2, but some people may not find it there, so I wanted to post it here so it was more find-able.
Ok, the ringtone portion is a little less clear cut. Here is what you have to do:
1] Connect your phone to your PC.
2] When the ActiveSync window pops up and finishes synchronizing your phone with Outlook, press the Explore button in the button bar on the ActiveSync window (between the Details button and the Options button). This will open up a standard File Explorer window pointed at your cell phone (as opposed to a drive letter or directory like usual).
3] Double-click on My Smartphone.
4] Double-click on Storage (not Storage Card).
5] Double-click on Application...

Memory
I'm new to smartphones, but anyone (winhack?) want to explain what's the difference between storage memory and program memory (as opposed and different from the flash storage memory). Any way to rotate between the two. The 5600 seems to have 23mb of total memory, with 1.4mb of storage memory and 21.6mb of program memory.
What does these requirements mean in terms of 3rd party software (games, apps, etc.) that can be put on the phone?

Is the SMT 5600 unlocked?
Does anyone know if the SMT 5600 is locked to ATT? I am a Cingular customer and I purchased the MPx220 and the volume is so low on the headset and my callers can't hear half of what I am saying! I want the Audiovox but will it work with my Cingular SIM?

non responsive keys?
Anyone else having trouble with nonresponsive keys? My "4" button really needs to be pressed down hard in order to get it to register. The other keys work fine, but the 4 worked fine when I got the phone a few days ago as well. Probably an isolated problem, but wanted to throw it out there.
Hopefully the AT&T store will replace the handset, but I bought it online, so who knows.

Windows Mobile/Audiovox Usability Questions
Having just picked up an Audiovox 5600 and not having used windows mobile (2003(, I have a couple of questions; perhaps someone here could help,
· Copy/Paste – is there any way to copy/cut/paste? PocketPC does this but I could not find it on WM. AM I missing something? With the effort it takes to put in text we want this even more!
· Is there a way to make the email font smaller to get more on the screen?
· Is there a way to mark a bunch of email and delete? (It could really use a blackberry style scroll wheel for viewing and marking)
· Is there a way (including purchased programs) to group contacts by company? Am I the only one who can’t remember every name?
Thanks!

Desktop Cradle for Phone?
I just bought the phone - waiting for delivery by FED EX tomorrow! I do have ONE question though - I did not see any notice on the ATT documentation that I have reviewed so foar that the phone comes with anything resembling a desktop cradle/holder. I also went on the audiovox site and found nothing listed under accessories - anyone know if such a beast exists for this phone?
Thanks 🙂

Buying in store vs. online
Interesting thing, the phone is $100 more in the store. Wonder why they would doi that.
Quick Update
I played with the Data/Internet features of the phone last night (I said I wasn't going to bother, but I wanted to at least say I tried them). They worked as well as would be expected for any MS-Windows-based mobile device. Web browser worked fine (browsed Google and eBay with little to no problems other than the screen being too small for eBay). Connectivity was good, consistent, and stable. It just worked when I expected it to. Always a good sign.
Additionally, the transceiver in the phone is working MARVELOUSLY! I am VERY impressed with this phone's ability to capture and utilize signal. All the dead spots around my home are providing little to no challenge for my SMT 5600. Today is the first day I take it out around town and see how w...

How's this compare to the Nokia 6620?
FOr those of you that own the 5600, how do you think it compares to the Nokia 6620?
I see the main advantage of the 6620 being EDGE compatible, as well as the Symbian OS with lots of apps available, as well as having a slightly better control scheme. But the 5600 is smaller I think.
Anyone have any input?
